I think my child is gifted...
- Gifted vs. Bright Student: What's the difference?
- In this country, academically gifted and talented students make up approximately 6-10% of the total student population (National Association for Gifted Children).
- If both you and the parent agree that the child demonstrates characteristics of giftedness, please email Julie the student's name.
I think my child needs an evaluation...
If a parent requests an evaluation, please clarify the following with them:
- Does the parent understand that this evaluation is used to determine eligibility for an IEP and special education services?
- This could mean: The student has a suspected learning disability or other health impairment that is significantly impacting the student’s learning.
