Our News this Week

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

We hope that you all had the most wonderful winter break and start to the New Year! Students have returned to our school this week and have settled back into our school-based routines with ease. As always, we are incredibly proud of them and grateful to our community for all of your support as well.

Winter Solstice Celebration

On Wednesday, January 21st, we celebrated Winter Solstice as a school. All students and staff participated and it was wonderful to see everyone together.

Please check out the video below to watch our parade and sun-filled songs!

Thank you for all the incredibly generous donations of both clementines and apples!

Grade 4 and Kindergarten Buddies Trip to the Vernal Pool!

Kindergarten and Grade 4 Buddies took a trip to the vernal pool right here in beautiful Florence! We are so lucky to have such a fun, natural resource here in our own community.

Students in both grades made pinecone snacks for the many creatures and were careful to put them at a safe distance from homes.

Grade 5 Bagel Celebration!

All of our Grade 5 students celebrated their creative writing unit about bagels with a Bagel Celebration! Students read their creative writing to one another and then went outside to enjoy a bagel and plenty of related activities include bagel toss!

Ms. Patel came in ready to celebrate with "bagel hair" and lots of students had creative bagel headbands and even shirts!

Thank you Ms. Patel and Grade 5 students for bringing such joy and fun into your learning!

Physical Education Archery Unit

Ms. Minton provided a unit on Archery for students in Grades 4 and 5 again this year, much to our students delight! Students are not only skillful archers, but they are also trained in very precise rules regarding safety and respect for the sport. Students were very engaged in this unit and many Grade 5 students indicated it was their favorite and how much they would miss it!

A former NPS Physical Education teacher, Annette Bischoff, returned to train (alongside Ms. Minton) the entire elementary PE department in the same safety procedures, during the January 7th Teacher Work Day. We are grateful for their expertise and willingness to teach others!
