Senior Design Showcase set for Friday
Undergraduate Research Showcase
Civil Engineering Students Receive ACI Certification
On Saturday, April 18th, 22 civil engineering undergraduates participated in a national exam to become certified to test fresh concrete properties. This national American Concrete Institute (ACI) Grade I Field Certification is regulated by the ACI International and administered by the Georgia Section of ACI. The program which is part of the junior level CVLE 3310 Civil Engineering Materials course is the only program in the state of Georgia that prepares students for the national certification
ASCE Participates in 1st Conference Since Becoming National Student Chapter
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter participated in the ASCE Carolina’s Region Conference April 9th - 11th. This was the chapter’s first participation in a regional conference since being officially recognized as a national student chapter by ASCE. The student chapter participated in a number of competitions include the tug-of-war (pictured). The chapter plans to participate in the Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe competitions next year. ASCE Officers Abby Caballero, Katelyn Stallings, Molly Schenck, Austin Etheridge and Iain Risk attended the meeting.

American Society for Engineering Education honors UGA professor
The American Society for Engineering Education’s Southeastern Section has named College of Engineering's Professor Tim Foutz as the winner of the 2015 Outstanding Teaching Award. The Southeastern Section of ASEE presents the award annually to recognize exceptional contributions to engineering or engineering technology education through outstanding classroom performance. The award, which is given to one person each year, was presented at the ASEE Southeastern Section annual conference April 13 in Gainesville, Florida. A colleague, department head or student may nominate a candidate for the award.

The College of Engineering's Office of Development and Alumni Relations invites students to join us for a FREE breakfast for dinner to take a break from preparing for finals on the evening before reading day. We'll have a variety of foods and plenty of coffee to keep you fueled for more studying. The computer labs in Driftmier will be open.

College of Engineering Convocation- May 8
The University of Georgia College of Engineering has announced it will hold its spring 2015 convocation Friday, May 8 at 3:30 pm in the UGA Chapel. The speaker and additional details will be announced soon.
Commencement Day- May 8
2015 Spring Commencement
The 2015 Spring Commencement exercise will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 7 p.m. in Sanford Stadium. The Graduate ceremony will be held earlier that day at 10 a.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.
Applications for College of Engineering Scholarships Due-May 15
Internships, Co-ops, Jobs and Scholarships Galore!
SP Scholarship - $10,000 1 Award (Deadline: May 15, 2015)
Student Eligibility:
A) Must be attending an accredited post-secondary institution by the fal of 2015 at the latest.
B) Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a program that is at least
two years in length.

Odenza Vacations Scholarship - $500 1 Award (Deadline: June 1, 2015)
Student Eligibility:
A) Be between the ages of 17 and 24 on September 1st, 2015
B) Submit answer to the essay question, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 1st, 2015 deadline.
C) Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
D) Be a resident of the United States or Canada

Got a Spine Scholarship - $500 1 Award (Deadline: June 2, 2015)
Student Eligibility:
A) Be attending college or university no later than October of 2015.
B) Be attending college or university on a full-time basis by October of
2015.
C) Have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year.
D) Be attending a school in the U.S. or Canada by October of 2015.

2015 BBG Communications Scholarship - $500 1 Award (Deadline: June 30, 2015)
Student Eligibility:
A) Be between the ages of 16 and 21 on June 30, 2015
B) Submit answers to the two essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 30, 2015 deadline.
C) Have at least one full year of post secondary studies remaining at the
time of the award
D) Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
