This timely resource will help you take immediate action to revitalize and enrich your practice so that all your students may thrive in school and beyond.


Classes will be held in the Hagerstown Room from 4:00 to 6:00 on Tuesdays. Workshop pay will be provided.


The book is located on the WCPS portal for your use or you may buy the book and bring to class. Participants may choose to come to one or all sessions.

Overview of students who live in Poverty (Payne Research) infused with Jenson's 7 engagement factors and the rules for engagement that Jenson highlights in the book. Participants will generate questions and explore ideas about students who live in poverty and how poverty can affect a child's learning. Register here.

Feb. 16, 2016: Solutions that you can use

Discuss and learn to apply strategies of engagement. Participants will explore and choose strategies to practice and implement in their school with their students. Register here.

Feb. 23, 2016: How to automate engagement

How did you implement strategies from Session 2 and how are your strategies working? Participants will reflect on strategies, strategy implementation and ways to automate engagement in order to increase student learning. Register here.
