A Look at Our Week
We have been reading many stories, including "Officer Buckle and Gloria" by Peggy Rathman, as well as "Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten." These books explore the need for safety rules, and letter recognition. Your child will sign-in each day as they enter the classroom, and will be working a lot on name recognition of their classmates' names, and on writing their own name. We have also written our first class story.....more details to follow!
Each day we have Fundations, where we associate letters with keywords that start with the same letter, and their corresponding sounds. Last week's letter/keyword/sound is" T-top - t". This week's letters/keyword/sounds are "B - bat -b" and "F - fun -f". Ask your child about it, and look for the letters t, b and f in any signs you pass by this week.
I am not sending home books to read this week, as I have just begun assessing their reading levels. I will be talking about our "baggy book" procedure and sight words at the Open House scheduled on the 20th September (there'll be icecream!).
In Math each day we will be exploring some of the materials that we will be using over the coming months. Add a twist to your "I Spy" games by seeing objects that are shapes. "I Spy, with my little eye, something that is shaped like a circle" etc.
Please send back any outstanding paperwork.
