Messages from Principal Lefere
I want to share how wonderfully excellent this year has been. I truly enjoyed building relationships with the staff, students, and families.
Howbert Elementary is a great school and I look forward to the greatness we will achieve in the future.

2022-2023 HOWBERT STAFF AND CLASSES
Staff Changes
- Based on District 11 enrollment projections Howbert will be loosing one classroom teacher.
- Mrs. Branford will be taking a year of personal leave.
- Mrs. Gray (art teacher) is moving on to another career.
- Mrs. Nally (ELL EA) is completing her degree in counseling.
- Mrs. Theimer (preschool EA) is retiring.
- Mrs. Ruggles (Kitchen assistant) is retiring.
- Mrs. Carr (interventionist) is moving.
- Ms. Lazarus will be our new school psychologist (see below).
- Ms. Boon will be our new counselor (see below).
- We will be hiring for an art teacher, ELL EA, and preschool EA.
Class Changes:
- Mrs. Morris will be looping up with her 2nd grade students and teaching 3rd grade (taking Mrs. Branford's class).
- Mrs. Dickey (music) will be at Howbert full-time.
If you have any questions about these changes, please feel free to contact me.
Additionally, please know that there is always a possibility of unforeseen changes before the start of next school year.
WELCOME - CAROLYN LAZARUS - School Psychologist
Carolyn has worked across District 11 this past year as an intern.
We are very excited about the support she will be able to provide students at Howbert.
WELCOME - JESSICA BOON - School Counselor
Jessica will definitely bring with her great expertise and another very important staff member that students can count on.
YES! WE ARE OFFICIALLY AN OUTDOOR AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PATHWAY SCHOOL
Next year will be a year of planning and moving forward.
Great outdoor learning for students is in our future!
UPDATE: BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE FOR 2022-2023 at Howbert
YMCA has shared with us that they will be offering an after school care program at Howbert for the 2022-2023 school year. They will also consider a before care program if there is enough interest.

Field Day Volunteers Needed
Howbert Field Day is Thursday, May 19th from 7:30-10:30 AM. The students need your help running events. Please sign up for a primary event (K-2) or an intermediate event(3-5). Lunch will be provided for all helpers.
Upcoming Clubs and Activities
ART MIXER at Holmes
May 17, 2022 4-5:30 PM
Welcome to Holmes Middle School. We are hosting an art mixer for incoming 5th graders. Students will be painting a large Holmes’ mural that will be hanging in the 6th grade hallway. This will allow time for students to create great art and great friends before summer kicks off.
Cost: 5$ per student (paid at time of participation)
Covers snack and supplies.

Student’s First and Last name, What school they are currently attending, contact name and number of adult planning to pick student up after the mixer.

Youth Mental Health - I Matter.
Dear Howbert Families,
The I Matter program, launched by the State of Colorado, provides access to mental health services for youth. The program is open to youth 18 years of age or younger or 21 years of age or younger if receiving special education services. At this time, they are offering up to SIX FREE sessions (some in-person sessions available).
