SSYRA - Battle of the Books

We will be picking our battle team on March 10. Students in grades 3rd-5th who have read at least 10 Sunshine State books and who have passed the AR tests are eligible to test for the team. The battle practices will start after Spring Break on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. The Battle will be held May 12. Let's see if we can't bring home the trophy for the 3rd year in a row.

Wishy Life Buddies

First grade will enjoy an author visit this week from Tiffany Oliva one of the authors of Wishy Life Buddies: The Original Easter Tradition. This story provides families with a sneaky, seasonal pal who gives treats, rewards and encouraging messages to well-behaved children during the Easter season. The story and gift set can be purchased at http://www.wishylife.com.

Do you have photos of a class or school event? We would love to add them to the yearbook. Please add your pictures to the following link: http://www-pes.stjohns.k12.fl.us/media/yearbook. You can also purchase your yearbooks at this link for $20. The price goes up soon so don't wait.

The Seustastic Book Swap was a Hit!

Birthday Book Club

The Palencia Elementary School Media Center’s Birthday Book Club is a wonderful way to commemorate your child’s birthday. Your participation not only enriches the library collection but allows you and your child to be personally involved in its growth.

If you would like to take part in the Birthday Book Club, a donation of one new hard back book is requested. This book should be a book that your child really likes and one that we don’t have in the media center already. You can choose a new book at the book store or a book from the Book Fair. A quick check of our library catalog (Alexandria) will tell you if we already have the book. In lieu of a book, you may make a monetary donation of $15 and your child can choose from recently acquired books that are waiting to be processed.
