Who We Are and Why We're Here

Parents, come see what's going on at school! Please join us to check out the core of what we do--teaching and learning in community.

Teachers will share the richest parts of their classes and what ignites their teaching passions. Whether you want to meet the teacher, find out what's being taught, or see the classrooms for yourself, we invite you to bring your questions and curiosity to Woods.

September 12, 6:00-8:00pm

College Lunch & Learns

Woods hosts sessions with admissions representatives from a variety of colleges and universities, and we encourage students at all grade levels to attend. This is a great chance to make a connection, learn about programs, ask questions, and identify priorities.

Meetings are during lunch (12:30-1:12) in the Glade, and are posted in the High School Announcements.

September 10 - Duke University

September 13 - Salem College

October 21 - Elon University

October 22 - Davidson College

More to come!

Senior Pictures 9/12

Senior pictures will be taken on September 12. Students will travel by bus to a local site for "environmentals" and will also pose for formal portraits. The photographer provides formalwear. Proofs will be available for review and online purchase.

Senior Families' Meeting 9/24

College planning meeting for seniors and families! Meet with the senior advisors, review your transcript, find out about senior events and the path to graduation.

All families are encouraged to come to start the year fully informed, get on the right track, and find out about resources, must-dos, and what's special about senior year.

September 24, 6:45-8:00pm

Picture Day Ahead 9/26

Look your best for school pictures on September 26!

PSAT for Juniors

The PSAT/NMSQT will be offered at Woods to all students in grade 11. The test is optional but generally recommended as part of the college process.

Scores on the PSAT/NMSQT are used to determine finalists for the National Merit Scholarship program. The PSAT/NMSQT scores can be used for eligibility at the community colleges.

The cost is $17. Forms along with check/cash are due by September 10.

PSAT -- Wednesday, October 16.

High School Announcements

Daily announcements for students are posted via a link on the school website. Students can access this from the High School tab on the Woods website.

A Woods login is required.

(Did you know? There's a Woods app! Check the AppStore)

Parent/teacher/student conferences 10/3

Plan for 12:20 dismissal and conferences on October 3.

We encourage parents and students to attend conferences together!

Look for information on scheduling conferences in the coming weeks.

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarship opportunities are out there--but you may need to look for them. One great resource is JLV College Counseling. Many families find it helpful to subscribe to the weekly scholarship listing Scholarship Saturday.

The Woods Scholarship Committee will be considering nominees for several scholarship programs this fall. Interested seniors should be sure to review the information provided by email.

Lunchtime Study Hall

A supervised study hall will be available Monday through Thursday each week from 12:45-1:12.

Students may opt in or be assigned by a teacher.

This is a great opportunity to get some help, catch up on work, or plan ahead!
