Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 27, Issue 2, August 20, 2019
From the PFC President
Well...Allow me to welcome you back, one and all. I hope the first week of school was a good one and you are getting back into the swing of things with as little drama as possible.
By the time you get this newsletter, it will be almost time to go to the annual Thornhill Back To School Night tomorrow, Wednesday August 21 from 6-7pm (adults only). I like to think of this as a community event in which all of Thornhill comes together to see what our school is all about. In addition to meeting with your children's teachers, I and a few other members of the Parent Faculty Club (PFC) will be speaking for a few minutes to give you some information about the PFC and opportunities for you to become involved in the organization.
I look forward to meeting many of you this week, and also toward all of us making this a great year at Thornhill.
Back To School Night Is Tomorrow!
A reminder that registration for enrichment classes closes tomorrow, Wednesday August 21 at 5pm.
Classes start on Monday, August 26!
Konstella Is Back and Better Than Ever!
We continue to strive to use Konstella for all school-related items so that it’s super easy for you to check Konstella for everything you need to know. Other great resources are our website and the ability to subscribe to our google calendar.
When possible, we would like to have 2 parent/guardians in Konstella for every child to ensure that information is being received. You can easily invite your partner to Konstella by clicking the “Invite” button right underneath your name in the upper left corner (while on desktop)!
We’ve upgraded our plan, so we have access to additional features to make your lives easier. You can now copy/duplicate past events and sign-ups! We know it was a headache last year to recreate those field trip sign-ups and conference week sign-ups, so we hope this will make everyone’s lives better. Additionally, when in an event, you can choose to sync that event directly to your calendar.
As always, please reach out to email@example.com if you have any questions whatsoever. We are here to help!

About the Thornhill Newsletter
The Thornhill Parent-Faculty Club (PFC) eNews team publishes this weekly newsletter each Tuesday in the school year to communicate school, PFC and OUSD news, events and information.
Email submissions to our Newsletter Chair, Evie Nagy, at firstname.lastname@example.org by 8 p.m. Thursday for approval—nothing sent after this will be included in the following week’s newsletter unless there are extremely compelling extenuating circumstances. It’s fine to include text in the body of the email with links and no formatting, and attach photos preferably as 150 x 150, 72 dpi JPG or GIFs only (not embedded in email or Word file). Submissions may be edited for spelling, grammar, brevity and clarity. Advertising and items not related to Thornhill are not accepted, as we need to keep the newsletter focused on need-to-know info for the community.
THANK YOU to everyone who submits articles and to PFC Board Members, Teachers, VP of Communications Erin Proudfoot, PFC President Rex Crum, and Principal Steve Daubenspeck. Member of Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).
