From the Desk of Russ Booth

January 6, 2023

Good evening MHS families,

It was great to be back at school this week, and the short week was a good way to start back up. Our math team hosted five areas schools yesterday for a Math Meet, with MHS winning the meet and having the top-scoring competitor, senior Amelia Allen! Athletics also has a busy weekend with several competitions going on as well.

This past week a small group of our teachers and support staff was trained on the use of our digital hall pass system that we will be implementing at the start of the 2nd semester. The staff members that were trained will be utilizing the digital passes in their classrooms with their students. We are still developing an FAQ for parents that are interested, but I would like to emphasize the following points.

  • The digital pass system will not deny students access to the restrooms or other supports they need access to during the course of the day.
  • The digital pass system does not track where a student is at any moment in the building. It is like a paper pass that states where the student is going.

Once we use the system and develop the FAQ we will share a document with parents.

Again, it was great to have students and staff back this week and I hope you all have a great weekend.

SCOIR Post Secondary Planning Platform

MHS is pleased to announce that we are introducing a new system called Scoir (pronounced score) to help you and your student navigate the post secondary planning process. The Class of 2023 will be the last class to use Naviance.

On Monday, December 12th MHS students in grades 9-11 will be given access to Scoir to set up their account. Students can decide to invite their parents/guardians to their account. As a parent or guardian, you would be able to view their profiles, interest inventory results, see their college list, conduct your own college searches, and suggest colleges for your student to consider. Scoir also provides parents with financial tools so that you can get a better sense of the cost of attendance at various colleges during the selection process.

We are excited to be able to provide Scoir to our students and families, and we feel confident that you will find it helpful and easy to use.
