One Book 3 Schools Unveiling Celebration
“When we read together, we connect. Together, we see the world. Together, we see one another.” Kate DiCamillo
We would like to thank all the families that were able to come out to our book unveiling party. We are pleased to announce that the 2023 One Book, Three Schools book is Galaxy of Sea Stars by Jeanne Zulick Ferruolo! The buzz and excitement around the book were palpable! Students will begin to read this book that highlights friendship, courage, and acceptance in school from 4/21-5/24. Our community read will culminate with a visit from the author on May 30th. Pictured below are Crandall students engaged in Art, P.E, Math and STEAM activities that were inspired by the book. The ice cream was a cherry on top😊
Prudence Crandall School Takes on the CT Physical Fitness Assessment!
The CPFA is a physical fitness assessment given to students statewide. Students are introduced to the tests in 3rd grade to learn how to perform and complete them. Beginning in 4th grade, testing officially begins! Throughout the school year students are given multiple opportunities to practice and evaluate their own performance, and even do some goal setting! The four fitness components students are tested on are: aerobic/cardiorespiratory endurance; flexibility, upper body muscular strength and endurance, and abdominal strength and endurance. The charts below display the age specific performance zones for each of the tests. Students have been working hard to challenge themselves and improve their personal best with every attempt!
Under the Sun Classroom
Room 18 and 20 students earned the ability to work outside if they finished taking notes about the original 13 colonies! Students enjoyed the warm weather while typing their compare and contrast essays!
