Shout-outs for January:
Sadie Vernon- listening to instructions well.
Eli Mabe- always making people laugh and smile and for being (this student's) best friend since preschool.
Brielle Fowler- holding the door for a staff member.
Erin Bullins- waiting with a friend, outside in the cold.
Ms. Bridget- always smiling and making me happy when I get my breakfast and lunch.
Ms. Lawson- saving the music by loaning Mrs. Cox her phone during announcements one morning.
Mrs. Brown- always going above and beyond and caring genuinely for her students.
Kendall Joyce- always trying his best in school and for making people laugh.
Levi Bennett- showing the character of a true friend.
Mr. Scott- helping out above and beyond such as staying to help clean after the reception for Mrs. Conner.
CJ Cline- making a classmate happy.
Palmer Morgan- working quietly in class.
Mikah Collins- being a gentleman and holding the door for Mrs. Cox.
Aubree Brown- working hard in class.
Mrs. Donna Collins- always being willing to help.
Tye Tucker- always coming in with a smile and being eager to help.
Mrs. James- helping Ms. Lawson.
Arabella Colato- smiling and being pleasant every day. She is friendly and ready to help others.
Riley Mabe- making her friends laugh and always being happy.
Mrs. Brown- being the best lunch buddy ever!
Indie Jones- holding the door for students coming in from the bus.
Lorretta Ellis- being thoughtful towards Mrs. Cox.
Erin Bohannon- being good in class and listening to the teacher.
Ally Plummer- volunteering to sweep the cafeteria floor and wipe down tables.
David Hays- holding the door for his class.
Mrs. Cook- always being willing to help, being easy to talk to, and being easy to work with.
Mrs. Brown- always being kind to others.
Gavin Bingman- holding the door for a teacher.
Jackson Plummer- helping Ms. Lawson in the library.
Mrs. Melody Cox- helping out when needed, even when it is without much notice.
Mrs. Bowman- covering for a teammate during a meeting.
Gavin Bingman- straightening up his table in Guidance without even being asked.
Emma- Priddy- turning money she found in to the office.
Sophia Manson- helping a friend who had a ketchup spill, by getting napkins for her and helping her clean her hands.
Nathan Spencer- helping Ms. Lawson in the library.
Mikah Collins- holding the door for others.
Mr. Yarboro- preventing accidents on the playground by keeping a watchful eye.
Levi Bennett- paying attention in class and listening to the teacher.
Jackson Plummer- helping Ms. Lawson in the library. Thank you for being eager to help.
Johnathan Moore- being a good friend and supporting a classmate all year.
Penelope Mitchell- always doing what she is supposed to do without being asked or reminded.
Sadie Aaron- helping Ms. Lawson in the library.
Jonathan Perdue- always helping his classmates whenever he sees a need.
Houston Pyrtle- helping a classmate put her chair up on her desk for cleaning.
Sadie Aaron- being a best friend and helping someone feel happy when they were sad.
Kerston Kiger- helping a classmate put her things away during math class.
Those are wonderful examples of the kind, generous, and shining moments taking place at LAWES! Thank you all.

Recent Events
We had our second PTA-sponsored movie night and dance. The Kona Ice Truck was also here! The students who were able to attend had a blast!
We had class photos. Everyone brought their best smiles.
We had PBIS Club Day. In honor of the Chinese New Year, the Cooking Club ate the snack they made with chopsticks!
Our teachers had professional development with Dr. Amy Nail from Education Resource Group (ERG) on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Behavior strategies. They also learning additional technology techniques using their Clear Touch Panel with Instructional Technology Facilitator, Brooke Johnson. Our teachers are always working to improve their craft and stay current on new technology!
We have a new Spirit Rock for our school, thanks to Vulcan Materials Company and our PTA! Thanks to PTA President, Hannah Mabe, and Art Teacher, Melissa Bullins, for painting it to remind every passerby that LAWES is the place to bee!

Calling all 5th Grade Parents:
If you have pictures you would like included in the end of year slideshow, please bring hard copies to Ms. Lawson or email her digital copies at wyshona.lawson@stokes.k12.nc.us
You may send the following types of pictures: baby pictures, toddler pictures, pictures from K-4th grade, family pictures, friend pictures and field trip pictures.
Please limit the total number of pictures to 10.
If you have pictures of students other than your child, please feel free to send those as well.
If you take a screenshot of a picture on your phone, please edit before you send to me.
Please send by May 19th.
In addition, Ms. Lawson needs a baby picture that you specify you want in the yearbook. Please send this as a separate email attachment or bring in a physical copy to be scanned. But please specify that it is for the yearbook.
