Kindergarten Screening - May 2nd, May 17th, 22nd
Parents/Guardians of all of our incoming kindergartners are asked to bring their child to Spaulding School for kindergarten screening. We will have 3 dates, May 2nd, May 17th, May 22nd. Even if your child is in one of our pre-kindergarten programs, you must bring your child for a screening and register at that time. At this screening, one of the kindergarten teachers will assess your child’s knowledge of school skills such as letters, shapes, numbers, concepts, etc. These results are used to create blended classes in the fall, and to identify areas of weakness that you might work on with your child before the fall. You may call the River Trail School (847-249-6253) or Spaulding School (847-662-3701) starting March 16th to schedule your screening for May. If your child speaks or is exposed to another language, a teacher will also screen the child’s English proficiency level at that time. This screening will help the team determine if your child is eligible for services to increase his/her knowledge and use of the English language. This score will also be used to determine eligibility in a bilingual classroom for children whose primary language is Spanish.
