Holy Rosary School Derby
NEWSLETTER / TERM 3 / WEEK 8 / 7th September 2022
Message from Miss Melanie
This past fortnight we have some fantastic events that our students have enjoyed participating in. Year 2 enjoyed an excursion to the Police Station and they also had a look at the Old Derby Gaol. Details of this are below.
Thank you to the families that came to our Open Morning on Friday 2nd September, we hope you enjoyed looking through our classrooms and seeing what our wonderful students at Holy Rosary are doing.
We also had our Colour Run on the same day ... there was just a little bit of fun happening for sure. Lots of colour and a little bit of slime for Miss Chelsea and Miss Tiana. I hope you checked out the fantastic photos that were shared on our Facebook page. We are just finalising the amount of money raised and we will share the final amount in our next newsletter.
What a big day September 2nd was as we also had our Canteen Takeover. Thank you to Miss Kylie who organised the takeover with the support of Miss Jemima and the Yr 5/6 class who did an amazing job preparing the food. A massive thank you to Kelly Betambeau for her support in making and serving the food along with some extra helpers too.
On Tuesday 6th September we had our parent workshop for the candidates and their families for the Eucharist Sacrament. Miss Jemima was well prepared and supported by Miss Jocelyn. I look forward to our community sharing in the celebration of the Eucharist on Sunday 11th September with our candidates and their families.
This week I am sharing a picture of me with the mascot from my favourite AFL team - the West Coast Eagles. I was lucky enough to go to the MCG for the 2018 Grand Final to watch the mighty Eagles win over the Magpies in a nail biter of a game. The atmosphere at the MCG was amazing and is an experience I will never forget.

The Sports Scoop
Congratulations to all the students that participated in the interschool jumps yesterday at Derby District High School. They showed great sportsmanship throughout the morning and outstanding behaviour.
We wish the interschool squad all the best for the carnival held at St Mary's this Friday.
