Mrs. Bordelon has been an elementary school principal in MSD Pike Township Schools since her return from Louisiana and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. We look forward to her approval by our Board of School Trustees on October 26th. More information regarding her official start date and when families can meet her will come soon!

Going Places in Global Studies
This week we finished our study of Canada. Be sure to ask your student about all the interesting places and things we discovered. After Fall Break we will be following the migration of the Monarch Butterfly to Mexico. If your family has a special connection to Mexico, we would love to hear about it! We encourage LRE families to share their global experiences with us! Please email Mrs. A-C at dallmandclark@hse.k12.in.us if you have an experience or insight to share!

Leopard Book of the Month - October
Leopard Book of the Month is back again this year! Each class will read & talk about the monthly book. There is also a related activity to go with each book. Our book this month is Amy Wu and the Warm Welcome by Kat Zhang. In this book, Amy Wu helps a new student feel welcome. Students will be making welcome signs to hang up at Lantern Road to help anyone new to our school feel welcome. Students are encouraged to include things that would make them feel welcome such as: writing in their native language, describing the great things about LRE, or adding colorful decorations. Once completed, the signs will be hung up around the school to make everyone feel welcome!
You can listen to the story here as read by the author, Kat Zhang.
