-A Bird's Eye View-
December 2, 2019
Your Tweetcher for the week of 11/18 was.....Sara Vaughn
Shout-out to Clinton Middle School counselor, Sara Vaughn who is helping us tell that part of our story.
Sara recently shared information about her school's focus on helping students identify their "Trusted Adult", and how students are learning that they can talk to school staff when they are concerned about themselves or others.
When we shared information on our Facebook page about this, the district received several positive comments like those below.
"I am so proud of Clinton Middle School. They give 100%!" and "Way to go CMS. You are going above and beyond."
Your Tweetcher for the week of 12/2 is.......Jennifer Paschall
CMS Principal, Jennifer Paschall, provided the picture below from her school's Cardinal Thanksgiving lunch. She caught the quintessential picture of life with a middle schooler. This picture was the most liked image on our Cardinal Thanksgiving Facebook post last week.
Thanks to all who provided pictures from their school's Cardinal Thanksgiving. These pictures were shared with our community and reached almost 5,000 people. Many positive comments from parents were received, such as; "What an amazing thing to be a part of. The food was great and the staff are even more amazing! #proudtobeparentsofcardinals".

Amended Contracts
Amended contracts, letters of intent and extra duty assignments were given to building secretaries on 11/26. If it wasn't hand-delivered to you, please check your building mailbox. A few of you may not have received an envelope if you were just recently hired with the district, as you received the new pay rate on your original contract or letter of intent.
Please let Amanda Cothern know if you have any questions or concerns. After review, please return one signed copy to Central Office by Friday, December 6th, so that your personnel file can be updated. The extra copy is for you to keep.
Can you help tell our Cardinal story?
1-Our social media campaign, #WednesdayWhy, is receiving a lot of positive feedback from our community! Our stakeholders are enjoying hearing from staff members, students and parents about why they chose the CSD. We are currently looking for staff members to be featured during 2nd semester. If you are interested, all we need from you is your "why". You can provide it on this form.
2-We are also looking for staff members to be featured in our "Get to Know a Cardinal" features of our newsletters. If you are interested in being featured, please complete this form.
Adopt an Angel
If you and your family are interested in helping make a child's Christmas morning special, stop by Cato, Premiere Tanning, Ben Franklin's Bistro, or Crave to adopt a child for Christmas!
Can you donate for a good cause?
The Sunrise Optimist Club donates time and money for students in our district with disabilities to go shopping at Wal-Mart in December. In order to raise funds for the shopping spree, the Optimists hold auctions at their weekly meetings, and they are looking for donations!
Most items that are donated include food.....homemade cakes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, meat/cheese trays, etc. But items do not have to be food-related.
The auctions will be held in the next few weeks. If you would like to donate items for their auctions, or would like more information, please contact Optimist, Jarrod Steffens, jsteffens@clintoncardinals.org.
**********FROM THE BUSINESS OFFICE**********
Hello CSD!
It's that time of year when our district starts seeing leave requests come through due to illness - both for employees and family members. As an employee of the district, you do have access to Telemed Services through our relationship with MET and CoxHealth.
Instead of waiting in a doctor's office waiting room jam-packed with illness and germs, you can call a 1-800 number and receive doc services over the phone, computer, and other smart devices. You do not have to submit insurance information. In fact, you don't even have to be on our insurance plan! All you have to do is be willing to pay $45 at the time of service via a debit or credit card.
The number to call for DirectConnect Telemed Services is 1-888-805-8956. You will need our district code: Cli45c. You will also need capabilities for video and audio and you'll be able to connect with a medical provider to help with common conditions like fever, cold, sinus infections, stomach flu and so on!
Please review the flyer at the end of the newsletter for more information and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Emily
Get to know.....Dawna Bybee
Tell us what you do in the CSD, how long you have been here and why you enjoy being a Cardinal.
I am blessed to teach high school special education in the Life Skills classroom. I also taught self-contained math, CWC math classes, and at Pathways my first two years in Clinton. This is my fourth year at Clinton but my 17th year in education. I enjoy being a Cardinal because of the students, parents, staff, and administration. We are family working together!
Tell us a little bit about your family/where you are from.
I grew up on a farm in LaMonte, MO and graduated in 1983 from LaMonte High School. I attended Central Methodist University and pitched for the Eagles softball team. I completed my Bachelor's of Science in Education at Central Missouri State University (now, UCM) with a dual degree in Early Childhood & Elementary Education. I earned my ESL (English as a Second Language) degree from Southeast Missouri State University during my first two years of teaching. I also earned my certification in Special Education K-12 and Business Education 9-12. These were earned prior to completing my Masters in Education in Administration K-8 & 9-12 from William Woods University in 2011. I recently graduated from William Woods University in December 2018 with my Education Specialist degree in Administration. Teaching is in my heart.
On July 7, 1984, I married my high school sweetheart, Patrick Bybee. We have 4 amazing daughters and 8 awesome grandchildren. Cassie Leigh (33) and husband, Ronnie, and three children, Kaleb (15), Keyleigh (4), & Kyler (2); Lesa Marie (31) and husband, Homero, and two children, Damien (10) & Dominic (7); Jamie Lyn (28) and husband, Mike, and two stepdaughters & one son, Natalie (8), Nicole (7) & Michael (2); and Paige Nicole (21) a junior at MSU & her boxer dog, Monster.
Best vacation you've been on, and why?
Hawaii....a 7 day cruise to 5 different islands. It was amazing and FREE!! When I worked at Farm & Home Savings Bank (1984-1989), I won this amazing trip through a contest we had at the bank. My first daughter was only 3 weeks old when we set sail on the cruise (my parents watched her for us). This is a vacation I need to experience again because we did not get to see Pearl Harbor because we were afraid of missing our flight back to Missouri! Wonder if I can win another trip??
Favorite, can't miss television show?
Law & Order and Criminal Minds
What are three things people would be surprised to learn about you?
*I was in the Miss Missouri T.E.E.N. Pagent in St. Louis in 1982.
*I can't whistle.
*I can't draw a straight line with a ruler... but I did have a home business decorating cakes! "Dawna's Cakes"....I created cakes for weddings, birthdays, and special occasions.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A teacher
Name three things on your bucket list.
*Be debt-free
*Take my grandchildren & children on vacation
*See Niagara Falls
