Leopard Spotlight!

The Leopard Spotlight for 1/13/23 goes to Brandon Barter. Mr. Barter serves as the Department Lead in History and is an excellent teacher. He has strong organizational skills and is able to design lessons that enable students to reach higher levels of learning and comprehension. Being able to take the curriculum and design learning experiences which gradually releases students to lead the learning is a strength of his. Thank you for all you do Mr. Barter and congratulations!

Addams Family Musical

Lovejoy High School Performing Arts is delighted to announce their upcoming musical of the year, Addams Family!

The show will premiere on January 19 and continue through until January 21, 2023 at 7 PM.

Annual Bump Up Day is to take place on February 3, 2023.

Sloan Creek Intermediate, Willow Springs Middle School, and Lovejoy High School will host 4th, 6th, and 8th graders on Friday, February 3, 2023, for Lovejoy ISD’s Annual Bump Up Day. Bump Up Day was created to assist students with transitioning to a new campus and to help generate excitement for the new experiences they will have. Students will travel to the campus they will be attending for the 2023-2024 school year and have the opportunity to tour the campus, ask questions, and eat lunch. Students will be able to charge lunch and any a la carte/snacks purchases to their lunch account during their visit to their Bump Up school. Please make sure funds are available in your student's lunch account. Lunch prices for students visiting Sloan Creek Intermediate School or Willow Springs Middle School will be $4.00 for a regular meal or $4.75 for a premium meal. Lunch prices for students visiting Lovejoy High School will be $4.50 for a regular meal or $5.25 for a premium meal. A la carte/snack prices vary. Please refer to this document for specific pricing.

Attendance Task Force Weekly Report

Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).

Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. If your student needs a VOE for driver's permit or license, please send requests to and pick up at the front desk.


Student Sign-Out (Driver and Parent Pick-Up)

If your student needs to leave campus for any reason, please send sign-out requests to Your student will get a slip and be dismissed at the specified time. Please include the student's name, time they need to be dismissed, and any details we may need. We kindly ask that the requests are submitted as far in advance as possible.

TMEA All-State Treble Choir

Congratulations to Romi Kahana for being selected for the 2023 edition of the TMEA All-State Treble Choir. This is a 4 round process and she has worked diligently to see it happen. She will travel to San Antonio in February to take part in an intensive 3-day rehearsal clinic that will culminate in a concert.

Career Exploration in CTE

Career Exploration in CTE classes is opening new opportunities with real world applications and VR headsets. Mrs. Lynch's students are learning about different trades, such as welding, crane operations, and changing oil in a car to extend student learning.

LHS Band

The Lovejoy Band had a record 21 students advance to the area round of the Texas Music Educator Association All-State Process. The following 5 students have earned a spot in the All State Bands and will travel to San Antonio in February to perform with the best young musicians in the state. Go Band!!

Lovejoy Boy's Basketball

Basketball season is in full swing and the Leopards are off to another hot start! Our Lovejoy boy's basketball team is currently 16-6 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in District games. This past Friday the Leopards defeated Princeton 60-42 thanks to a thrilling second half comeback, and they followed it up on Tuesday by grinding out a close 45-40 victory in Overtime at McKinney North. The Leopards will travel to Melissa next Tuesday and will be back at home on Friday, January 20th vs. Greenville. Our fan support this season has been phenomenal and we look forward to seeing the Lovejoy community pack the gym at our remaining games. Come out and support this exciting team!
