KidCare Happenings

October 2012

Important Information

The fall season has started and the weather seems to be as crazy as usual! We have accumulated quite a few jackets over the past several weeks! Please check to see if they belong to your child.

Just a few reminders that will help the day at Kid Care run smoothly and hopefully yours too!

  • Kid Care hours are 6:30am-6:00pm.

Please remember there is a $10.00 late fee for every 15 minutes past 6:00.

  • PLEASE call if your child will not be

coming to Kid Care. This will save some very anxious moments for the staff, and unnecessary phone calls to the schools. Your child’s safety is of the utmost importance to us.

  • Please mark all of your child’s

belongings. It is amazing how many children have similar backpacks, lunchboxes, and jackets!

  • If your child is registered as a “drop in”,

please remember to call to check on availability. We need to remain in ratio at all times.

  • During the time your child is in our care we ask

that they do not have gum, candy, lifesavers etc. Any of these could present a choking hazard.

  • If your child does need medication during the

time they are in our care, please make sure you see the Director or a teacher to sign the medication log. Without this paperwork filled out, we will be unable to dispense any medication.

Non-School Day Clarification

A non-school day is considered a day that the schools are closed. Kid Care staff will survey parents in advance of the approaching non-school day to determine whether there will be enough students to merit Kid Care’s operation. There is a $3.25/hr or $26.00 for the entire day charge.

Have you checked your email recently??

I recently sent an email asking about your needs for care for the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Our goal is to provide care Wednesday, 12/26-Friday, 12/28. If you have not responded, could you please take the time to check your calendars? We do need to have a minimum of 12 children to open those days.

  • Looking Ahead: November

Early Dismissal- November 2nd

Parent Teacher Conferences- Early Dismissal November 12th-16th

Thanksgiving Holiday-Kid Care is taking a survey to see if there is a need for us to be open Friday, November 23rd or Monday, November 26th.

Please send an email to let us know what your child care needs will be during these upcoming dates.

There is one opening on the Kid Care Board. What a great way to be part of your child’s before and after school care. The board meets once a month for approximately 2 hours. Your input is important to the decisions made about the program. See Mrs. Kolumber for more details.

Giant Gift Cards

A reminder that we have gift cards available to purchase for the Giant Supermarket. We have them in increments of $50 or $100. Your use of these gift cards earns us 5% of your purchase. See Mrs. Kolumber for these cards

We are hoping to upgrade some of our computers here at the center. If any of you got new computers and are wondering what to do with your older one, please consider donating it to KID CARE. We’d be happy to give you a receipt for your donation!

Thank you to Vanessa Mackey for our new VCR/DVD!

Thank you to the parents who donated snacks and juice!

Stickers to use on the children’s sticker charts are greatly needed! We are looking for all sizes, but our greatest need is small ones to go on the kindergartner’s charts.

As always, drawing paper, glue sticks, tracing paper and other arts & craft materials are always needed.
