Notre Dame Catholic Primary School
Foundations for Life Long Learning 12 December
While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
~Luke 2:6-7~
Well we certainly brought our school year to a close with a bang on Tuesday with our Carols and Presentation of Awards Evening. The children all performed fantastically and the staff surprised everyone with their impromptu flash mob dance. Our Concert evening is always our biggest event and it is very rewarding for the staff to see so many parents and other family members attend. The feedback that I have received from many parents has been full of praise and a credit to all of the staff who have prepared the children so well. Thank you to all families for their ongoing support and encouragement with both the Carols evening and the many initiatives that are held throughout the year. Our school can only continue to be its best if we all work together with the common goal of providing excellent opportunities for the children. At Notre Dame I think the children are truly blessed because this communication and support of each other is evident in all that we do.
CONGRATULATIONS!
A few weeks ago Danielle Bewley (Smith) teacher of Pre-Primary M advised me that she was pregnant with her baby due to be born next May. Whilst I was aware of the upcoming birth, I haven’t been in a position to make any announcement or Teacher appointment until Danielle’s most recent assessment, with the results only being confirmed yesterday. With all of the testing now completed it gives me great pleasure to congratulate Danielle and her husband Pat on the impending birth of their first child. This is a very exciting time for them and we wish them every happiness as they embark on the most precious (and challenging) journey ahead.
Danielle will be returning for the first term of next year but the decision has been made to appoint a new Teacher for PPM from the commencement of the year so as to avoid possible disruption for the children. Danielle will support staff and children in a range of roles during the first Term.
FAREWELL
- As advised last week, Mrs Margaret Hennessy will be leaving us at the end of this year. We wish her good health and happiness as she enjoys the fun-filled lazy days ahead.
- Mr Jason Tyrrell also leaves us this year to pursue fantastic opportunities as a member of the staff at Holy Cross College in Ellenbrook. Jason has truly been a “larger than life” member of staff with everyone knowing who Mr T is and waiting to see what outrageous costume he is likely to wear at the many events throughout the year. He certainly didn’t need any encouragement to do so! His Monday morning playing of Happy Birthday with the cryptic message before the last hooray will sorely be missed by us all as well. I’m sure all members of our community wish Jason happiness and success at his new school and thank him for all that he has done to make Notre Dame a better school over the past two years.

YEAR 6 NEWS
Several weeks ago, the current year 6 leaders helped to run the Year 5 leadership day. They gave presentations and spoke of their own experiences of being a Year 6 leader. There was a range of team building games, short clips from inspiring movies and a question and answer session led by the students. One of the funniest tasks to watch was the ‘retrieve the bucket’ game, where groups had to work together and devise a strategy to fetch a tin of water without spilling it. We wish our newly elected student leaders for 2020 every success. It is definitely a worthwhile experience.
