I hope this email finds each of you well and having had opportunity to cool down from today’s record heat and heat index. I wanted to touch base with families this evening to apprise you of action steps we took today and will take tomorrow in light of tomorrow’s forecast.
We had the room fans running throughout the building and they did help. I walked the top floor in the morning and early afternoon and though warm, the industrial sized fans in the classrooms were helping.
We will continue to encourage our students and teachers to keep hydrating. Additionally, we have put in an extra supply of bottled water in the nurse’s office. As always please encourage your child to visit the clinic if he/she is not feeling well - a few moments in the air conditioning and some water just may do the trick.
As everyone gets ready for tomorrow’s work/school day this evening, please help your child plan for another hot day as he/she chooses tomorrow’s outfit. Loose, comfortable, light colored clothing is suggested in this kind of weather.
On a final note our physical education teachers, Mrs. Mahan and Mr. Rakovic kept students inside the gym today (with the super-sized industrial fans running) and are planning on doing so tomorrow. They participated in some fun ice-breaker (not real ice) activities as well as issued locks for gym lockers.
In the meantime if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 508.553.0322.
