CAMPUS REOPENING UPDATE
We know that our third through fifth grade students (and parents) are anxiously awaiting information about class placements for people who are returning to campus. We are putting the finishing touches on those class lists. Third through fifth grade parents can expect to receive a newsletter on Monday. It will include information about your student's placement and schedule, details about drop off and pick up, and essential health and safety guidelines. There will also be a link to an acknowledgment form that must be completed prior to March 8th. Be sure to check your inbox on Monday for that information.
Donate supplies for dog rescue center in Mexico!
4 Dogs Farm Rescue helps to rescue and adopt dogs from the streets in Mexico. The dogs at the rescue have hardly anything, and Alta Vista is partnering with the rescue center to provide much-needed supplies for the rescued dogs at the Mexican shelter. From now until March 15, we are collecting the following supplies:
Towels
Dog beds
Blankets
Dog clothes/sweaters
Dog toys
Leashes
Harnesses
Dog food
Disposable gloves
Bleach
Tide
Please drop donations off at the Kalia family porch at 267 Blossom Valley across from school. Any questions, please email clairekalia@gmail.com. THANK YOU for helping these needy stray animals!
COUGAR PRIDE MASKS
Alta Vista Home & School Club Mask Spiritwear Fundraiser
Show your Cougar pride by supporting the Alta Vista Home and School Club (AVHSC) as we welcome back our students!
The AVHSC typically holds fundraising activities at the beginning of the school year but given that in-person school was placed on hold because of Covid-19, the Annual Membership Drive and other events were also placed on hold. AVHSC funds numerous enrichment programs, such as Art, Clay, Music, PE, Project Cornerstone, assemblies, field trips, and more. We also supply the funds to purchase technology, educational subscriptions, classroom supplies, and teacher needs not otherwise provided by the District.
Although Covid-19 placed limitations on in-person school activities, the AVHSC funded virtual programs this year. Now that the campus is re-opening, we anticipate an increase in HSC expenses as in-person activities safely resume.
As we look towards next school year, with a more “normal” template, we want to ensure that we have funds to resume programs as we have in previous years. With this fundraiser, the AVHSC hopes to use your donations to off-set the costs of a Music Teacher, P.E. Teacher, and an extra crossing guard for the 2021-22 school year. These three expenses are NOT covered by the yearly Consolidate Class Pledge (CCP) that is normally collected from families at the beginning of the year during the Annual Membership Drive. In the past, the Walk-a-Thon was our largest on-campus fundraising event each year. Covid-19 restrictions have caused the AVHSC to reimagine how we fundraise for our school, which means we may not have our yearly Walk-a-thon in October.
