Star Constellations Lesson Preview- Thursday March 8th
- The final product will be a compilation from the efforts of all of of Star Constellation Groups.
- This will be a large-scale finished product that will be located in the breezeway where our current "Champions" bulletin board is located.
- An artistic picture featuring Hammerschmidt School and the iconic "Starry Night" painting has been created. (THANK YOU MICHELLE H!)
- This picture has been broken up into a square grid.
- Each Star Constellation Group will be responsible for creating 4 or 5 of the squares of the painting.
- The final product will have a "puzzle- like" feel with some connection and some variance between the individual squares. The picture below will gives you an idea of what this may look like.
- The purpose of this lesson will be to bond with our groups, have fun, and use teamwork to create a a school-wide artistic masterpiece.
- The hope is that this lesson is significantly more low-key than the WHS Winter Olympics.
- Stay tuned for a video with step by step directions by Tuesday of next week.

WHS Staff Spotlight:
This is Cathi Giancana's 24th year at WHS. She enjoys exploring new places, traveling, reading, just being with friends and family
Some of Cathi's favorites include:
Song- Moondance by Van Morrison
Food- Fresh Mozzarella Caprese
Movie- "I love period movies and this classic favorite of mine is based on an early 1800 novel written by Jane Austin. I am intrigued by the themes expressed through the characters actions and words as they struggle with decisions made based on sound thinking versus passion and what they feel with their heart. It gives insight into the lack of women’s rights at the time and is filled with deceit and romance. It has incredible England country settings that include castle homes filled with awesome antiques. A perfect movie for me!"
Cathi is inspired by Mother Teresa, because she has a simple basis for her spirituality and dedicated her life to tend to the poorest of the poor.
Finally, Cathi believes, "Students need to feel safe and know that their teacher cares about them!"

Organize your Browser Tabs with these Chrome Extensions
As teachers we open a lot of documents and teaching resources that create a lot of browser tabs. While I am writing this I already have 10 tabs open and it is only 9:30. Having a lot of tabs open can cause your computer to slow down and also make it hard to find which one you want quickly. Now there are two Chrome Extensions: One Tab and Toby that will organize your tabs. To get started, download which extension you want in the Chrome Web Store and get organizing.

Special thanks to Lindsay for taking over teaching after school program when her coworker was out sick for the week.
Marie Erickson
She lugged in a fish tank from home to go in her office as an incentive for a student. I'm sure he will love caring for his new fishy friends!
