News from Mr. Papes
Dear Alto Families,
It’s hard to believe that we’re wrapping up our 5th week of school already. With the new challenges we’re facing this year, we couldn’t be happier with the way the year has started. Both face-to-face and virtual students and staff continue to work hard, and the quality learning that is taking place is just great to be a part of. It really is a testament to the strong, supportive families we have, the dedication of our excellent staff, and the strong partnership we share in supporting our kids in their growth and development. Thank you so much for all that you do!
Pink Arrow
Today is Pink Arrow Day! This year is Pink Arrow XIII - Pink Arrow Strong, Lowell Strong. If you are new to Lowell or unfamiliar with Lowell’s Pink Arrow, please go to http://pinkarrowpride.org/ for more information. While things look different this year, it promises to be another terrific community event. Lowell’s own Gilda’s Club was established a number of years ago with the funds generated through our annual Pink Arrow Game. There are also annual scholarships given out, made possible with the funds raised from the Pink Arrow Game. It is truly an event that makes us all proud to be part of such a caring and giving community. Pink arrow shirts are still available for purchase. We will continue to recognize our Pink Arrow Pride throughout the school year with dedicated Pink days. Please consider purchasing a shirt for your child to wear at school on these days even if you are not planning to attend the Pink Arrow event. Proceeds from the purchase will help to support a great cause. If you would like to pledge a gift to Pink Arrow/Gilda’s Club, please visit this site:

We will also continue to make you aware of donation opportunities throughout the year.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
P/T Conferences provide a critical opportunity for parents and teachers to discuss a student’s progress in school as they strengthen their partnership in supporting the student both at home and at school. This fall, we will be holding all P/T Conferences remotely. Our preference will be to hold conferences on a virtual platform like Google Meets. However, phone conferences will also be provided if there are technology restrictions that prohibit virtual conferences from being possible. We will be holding these conferences during the week of October 12th, providing a variety of times to sign up for. We plan to provide sign-up opportunities towards the end of next week.
Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
The following information was sent in an e-mail yesterday:
Recently, I was contacted by our neighbors and friends at the Alto-Bowne Township Fire Department. They expressed a concern regarding both lanes being filled at times during our arrival/dismissal procedures. This creates a concern regarding travel access in the event that they need to respond to an emergency situation. I know we can all agree that this is an important consideration, and we want to help eliminate this concern. Therefore, we are asking that parents travel from South to North on Bancroft when arriving to the school for pick up/drop off and then exit to the North on Bancroft. We will reserve North to South travel on Bancroft for staff arrival. (Please see the attached map) Based on observation, this seems to be the general flow of traffic during arrival and dismissal already. However, it is important that this is followed by all to ensure that one lane is open for emergency travel. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
As always, thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Have a great weekend!
