Fr. Luong's Message

Once again we step into the season of Advent. This season is called a season of waiting or a season of hope. Advent means waiting and we wait eagerly for someone we love, we care and we are ready to invest our time on him. The name Advent comes from the Latin words “ad venire” meaning to come to and “adventus” meaning an arrival of a very important person, a king or prince.

Therefore, it is said that Advent season means a joyful waiting, a waiting for someone with love and joy. Here we wait for our Lord Jesus Christ, who is our Saviour; and we are eager to await him and to receive him as God becoming man like us. During this season we anticipate and await the coming of our Jesus with our whole hearts.

For us, as Christ’s little children from Notre Dame School, we prepare ourselves to wait for Jesus by living better, by loving one another more, by helping each other more at school, by praying more to the Lord. If all of us can do that, our waiting for the Lord will be more meaningful and then we will be worthy to receive the Messiah and the Son of God.

Principal's Message

Our newsletter will be reaching you just as all of us are preparing to celebrate the season of Advent. Unfortunately, for many of us this season becomes more about the preparation for the exchange of gifts than about the birth of our Lord. At school it is often the same. We become immersed in preparation for our Christmas events rather than celebrating the real joy of the season. This is one reason why we are very pleased to be associated with Notre Dame Parish and Father Cuong. Over the next few weeks I will, like you, be working to remember the real reason for the season. I pray that you will find your blessings in your family, your community, your faith and the celebration of the birth of our God.

From the staff at St. Mary School we wish you and your family a Safe and Blessed Holiday Season!
