Dragon Roar: 10.20.19 Week 10

Daring Greatly in Faith, Academics & Service since 1960

Welcome Quarter 2!

Good evening, dragons!

I hope you and your families had a restful weekend. Your student came home on Friday with their report card, NWEA testing scores and an invite for Trunk or Treat. If you have any questions, please let your homeroom teacher or admin know!

In today's gospel Jesus urges his disciples to pray and not lose heart, for God hears and answers prayers.

Luke 18:1-8

Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jesus tells us to pray always and not to lose heart. But how can we not lose heart when sometimes our prayers seem unanswered or lost amidst our busy lives? Our God is not like the dishonest judge in Jesus’ parable. We do not need to do what the widow did, begging him for what we need until he finally gives in. God desires for us to offer our needs in prayer, certainly, but then we need to trust that God is a good Father who gives good things to us. We have the assurance that our prayers will be answered, though perhaps not always in the way we expect.

When we trust God in this way, our prayer becomes a place of encounter rather than a list of requests. How do can work together to teach our students about the beauty of a relationship with God?
