Hertford County is a small area. There is less than 25,000 people in the whole county. Despite being a small area; the county has big educational opportunities. The number of opportunities that are here would likely be found in bigger cities. This makes Hertford County unique.

Hertford County Public Schools

There are seven schools in the Hertford County Public Schools district. There are three high schools, one middle school, two elementary schools, and one primary school. The schools are located in Ahoskie, Murfreesboro, and Winton, NC.

There are three sources of higher education in Hertford County. Roanoke-Chowan Community College is a two year college located in Ahoskie. Chowan University is a four year university located in Murfreesboro. Shaw University CAPE Center a four year university is located in Ahoskie.

Hertford County is unique because a person can get a full education right here in this small county. You could go from Pre-k to twelfth grade and then on to college to get a four year degree. This is unusual and unique in such a small area.
