This is a quick shout out to all ECVI students! We miss you!
The Educational Center remains closed until April 30th. We are working hard behind the scenes to create new ways to stay connected with you. Be sure to go to our website often for updates.
One new update is The Educational Center’s new e-mail address. Be sure to change it in your phones. My NEW email address: pdyson@edcentervi.org. E-mail me and let me know if there is anything you need. We want to be here for you.
Another new update is we're now on Twitter and Instagram. Follow us @edcentervi and stay up on the latest ECVI happenings. Tag us or add #ecvi when you're at ECVI events.
Our Dining in the Dark Fundraiser has been postponed until Friday, July 17th! It will be so great to get together and celebrate our achievements at that time! We will be ready to get out!
Friendship Friday is postponed as well, until further notice. I am working on getting us connected on Zoom so we can discuss our book of the month through the internet. I will work on getting everyone connected and reach out soon.
Love,
Peggy
Stay Connected! Learn to use ZOOM.
ECVI may soon offer our enrichment classes and social gatherings, like Friendship Fridays, via Zoom while campus remains closed. Here are a few nuggets of information if you're interested in learning more about Zoom.
From the National Federation for the Blind Covid-19 Resources page: The audiobook Meet Me in the Cloud is a three-hour, accessible tutorial of the Zoom platform (please note: at the time it was produced, several instances of accessibility glitches needed to be pointed out; however, with current operating systems, and the latest versions of Zoom, most bugs have been resolved). Access the book at https://mosen.org/zoom/.
Zoom also has a Quick Start Guide.
From Dan Thompson, our esteemed resident tech master:
There's a new mailing list to learn about and discuss Zoom. You can access the posts on https://groups.io/g/zoom-user. If you would rather receive posts via email, can submit a request to join the group on https://groups.io/g/zoom-users/join. This is a user group, so join at your own discretion. The moderator is David Goldfield, Blindness Assistive Technology Specialist, JAWS Certified, 2019.
