CLMS Family Update

October 28, 2022

From CLMS Principal, Mr. Eric Pettit

Good Afternoon CLMS Families!

Time is flying! I cannot believe we are already at Halloween Weekend and wrapping up the first quarter next week! As you will see in the pictures below, our students did a wonderful job participating in our annual Red Ribbon Week, recognizing the importance of living a drug-free lifestyle.

Included in this update is our final dive into the CLMS report card, more about the return of our book fair, information regarding the end of the quarter, and additional middle school specific topics. Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter and please contact the CLMS office with any questions!

As always, Go Pirates!

CLMS State Report Card- Gap Closing

Big picture
Our final dive into the building report card is gap closing. This shows how well schools are meeting the performance expectations for our students in English language arts, math, and graduation. It also measures how schools are doing in supporting English learners to increase language proficiency, reducing chronic absenteeism for all students, and identifying gifted students and providing gifted services. While this is our strongest area of the report card rating the building at 4 stars (indicating we are closing the gap at a faster rate then what the state would expect), there is still room for improvement. One additional factor in this section is absenteeism. Last year, 31.8% of students were chronically absent. While we understand that we were just coming off of the pandemic, this is an area that the building will continue to monitor and work to improve!
