Michelle grew up as a military brat, her father is a Marine Veteran. She has lived in Arizona, Hawaii, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. She met her husband Ronnie at Burnet High School, when it was held at the now middle school (class of '91 & '93!). They will be married 28 years in August and have 3 amazing children, Nolan, Kaygen and Ashton, who all graduated from BHS as well. They are planning a wedding in June for Kaygen to marry Logan.
Michelle stayed at home raising her kids and enjoyed coaching and attending all their events until she started doing attendance at BHS in 2014. She enjoys being outside, going to the lake/beach, baseball/football games or working on a project on their property. They are currently building a patio. She can not wait to see finished!
Michelle is part of the Highland Lake Aggie Moms club and serve as boutique chair. She is also a member of the Burnet County Livestock Show Board and serves as Poultry Superintendent with Ronnie. They attend many fundraisers in the community and enjoy giving back to the kids.
Staff Spotlight - Stephanie Sanchez
Ms. Sanchez is going into her first year teaching at Burnet High School and her 11th year in education. She teaches Environmental Systems and IPC. She is a 2003 graduate of Elgin High School. She grew up in Elgin her entire life and graduated from the same high school as her sibling, aunts and uncles. She went to Texas A&M and majored in Animal Science with a minor in agricultural economics. She graduated from A&M in 2008 with her bachelors. Her plans were to attend veterinary school after graduation and specialize in mixed animal medicine. She was accepted into St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. George’s, Grenada, West Indies.
After a year in vet school and a multiple sclerosis diagnosis, she returned to teaching at Elgin High School where she taught Biology and IPC. Ms. Sanchez got her alternative certification in 2010. In 2019 she graduated with her Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. She has previously taught at Elgin High School, Rouse High School, Glenn High School, and Manor Excel Academy.
In Ms. Sanchez’s free time she enjoys spending time with her family in Elgin and spouse, Stacy (Burnet High class of 1996) and playing trumpet. She has played trumpet since 6th grade and still continues to play with Austin Symphonic Band. She loves to share the gift of music with others both young and old. She also loves relaxing with her cats, Carlos, Frankie, and Rupert who she brought from Grenada. She also loves to lift weights and play golf (which she coached at Elgin High School).
Staff Spotlight - Daniela Suarez
Ms. Suarez was born and raised here in the Hill Country, where she graduated from Marble Falls High School (please don't hold that against her). After high school, she attended Angelo State University and earned a degree in Mathematics. Ms. Suarez decided to do her student teaching at BHS and was offered a position after graduation. This will be her 4th year teaching and 3rd year coaching the JV girls’ soccer team. Other than coaching and playing soccer, Ms. Suarez enjoys spending time with her family, going to live music events, watching sports, and spending time with her boyfriend.
