Principal's Update

Scappoose Students, Families, and Staff,

Hello Scappoose Community,

Next week is Winter Week! We have events leading up to Winter Ball on Saturday the 21st, at the Columbia County Fairgrounds from 7 PM-10 PM. Students are showing great excitement for next week and the WInter Ball. Please see below for important schedule announcements, leadership activities, and athletics.

Go Indians!

Winter Ball Announcement

The Winter Ball and other school events can be the source of many great memories. Unfortunately, they can also be associated with an increased level of unsafe behavior, including the use of alcohol. Students wishing to attend our upcoming Winter Ball on January 21st, starting at 7 PM, at the Columbia County Fairgrounds will complete a breathalyzer check before entry to the event. Students refusing to do so will lose the privilege of attending the event, and school personnel will contact their guardian(s). Students suspected of being under the influence will be required to have a parent pick them up. In the event that someone is found to have used alcohol or illegal substances or is in possession of an unlawful substance, staff will follow the expectations in the Student Handbook and Board Policy.

We are ensuring that all students know that the breathalyzer will be in use at the Winter Ball. We are raising the level of awareness by sending this email. Our goal is not to catch students doing something wrong but instead to help them make safe and appropriate choices.

We look forward to a safe and enjoyable evening for all.

Sincerely,

Scappoose High School Administrative Team

Another fun way to get involved with an activity this month, NHS is hosting our 2nd annual Birdies at Breakfast event. Organize a staff or student badminton team (2 people, no experience required), create a clever (might I suggest a bird-related theme?) team name, donate $10 (all proceeds will be donated to), and join us Friday morning 1/20 at 7:30 am for a sporting good time. Bagels and juice to follow gameplay. Register HERE
