Here's Our Path note for this week. Thank you for all you do for our learners!
WASD Leadership Model
WASD First Choice Pyramid
WASD Strategic Plan
"Right discipline consists, not of compulsion, but in the Habits of Minds that lead to spontaneously to desirable rather than undesirable activities."--Bertrand Russell, British Philosopher and Mathemetician.
Our Path Note Topic
Over the last few weeks, WASD has been working with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit No. 12 to review the results of the Climate Survey that was given to our students this year. The team is looking at the needs and devising a plan to address the needs.
The team will also be working with many groups on the Habits of Mind that business and society have developed as essential skills and characteristics they believe people must possess in order to be successful in today's world. Those habits of mind and other approaches we use in WASD will be aligned with the career team's Career Pillar. This is the vision of First Choice.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Alex Fogle. Alex is the custodian at Hooverville Elementary. Alex joined the Hooverville staff full time in March. He has a wonderful demeanor with the staff, learners, and the school community at large. He is extremely loyal and dedicated to Hooverville. He goes above and beyond to ensure cleanliness inside and outside of the school. You can count on him for being on top of building neeeds and will often come early or stay late to ensure the building is operating well. We are pleased to have him on our team and appreciate his loyalty and service at WASD.
Let's congratulate Alex Fogle for being this week's Piece of the Puzzle!

Challenge Answer
The LECI is the Local Effort Capacity Index. This index measures the tax effort and capacity in each school district. Basically, the state looks at several variables in each district and creates a number that shows the local financial effort a community is putting into its school district. WASD's is 0.97 (WASD was 0.76 in 2015/16 school year). 1.00 is number the state says that a community is doing its part to fund its schools.
Chambersburg is 1.09 and Greencastle is 1.09. In 2021/22, 178 districts were lower than WASD, and 312 districts were higher. Shippensburg Area SD is 0.96, Tuscarora is 0.94, and Fannett-Metal is 0.82. The lowest LECI in PA is Bryn Athyn at 0.02. The highest is York City SD at 2.15. The higher the LECI, the more state subsidy a district receives as part of the funding formula. If your a frugal school district, you are penalized.
