Why Dance?
Improves Basic Motor Skills
Your student will learn how to balance and do simple skills like skipping, jumping, and running along with dancing! Dance improves motor skills more than any other activity because of the fun yet strategic movements!
Helps Students With Disbailites and Learning Disorders
Dance Not only helps students with physical disabilities learn how to cope with their bodies, but also improves their motion range by easy exercise! Dance also helps students with learning disabilities because if offers a new way to learn that is hard to find in the classroom...kinesthetic learning, or using movement to learn. Students who have learning disabilities are often classified with these disabilities because they don't learn in a normal classroom environment. Dance offers an alternative method of learning for your student to thrive!
Dance in Academics
Dance can be used not only for fitness and fun, but also to learn! Dance can be used as a means of memorizing and learning subjects in school. For example, in science, students can make movements to help them remember key concepts and formulas. In literature, students can use dance to help them remember vocabulary terms by associating dance steps with words!
What Styles?
Your student will learn basic ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary movements. They will also explore different music genres and rhythms. Along with dance, your student will participate in conditioning exercises to build core strength and endurance. Your student will also play with making up their own dances and expressing different emotions through dance.
What Happens at the End?
At the end of the 9 weeks, your student will participate in a small recital to show what he or she has learned! The recital will feature choreographed dances of many styles!
