Mrs. Libby's 1st Grade Class
Updates and info for parents
This week and next week
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all enjoyed that nice long, HOT weekend! And now we have a short week! Remember there is no school on Thursday. And Friday is Spirit Wear Day. AND we have no homework this week, so look out for the new spelling list next Monday.
Wish List
Also, could we all get together and purchase the last high value wish list item? If we all pitch in $5, then we can take care of the chart stand and a couple of the low value items as well. Please let me know if you can contribute $5 (maliamusick@gmail.com) and I will collect the monies and make the purchase. If you would like to put it in an envelope with my name on it in your child's backpack, I will collect them. Thanks so much!
Here are a few school wide topics to share with you...
Jamba Juice for Sale After School Wednesday
We'll be selling 8-oz Jamba Juices on the front lawn and in the covered garden area behind the school starting at dismissal until 4:00. The cost is $2 per cup with 20% going to FOWHE. The flavors are Strawberry Blast or Five-Fruit Frenzy. Children in the STAR after school program can bring money and STAR staff will escort them to the Jamba Juice table.
STAR Camp Thursday
STAR is offering a one-day camp on Thursday (no school) at Westwood Park. Please register by Sept. 4.
Spirit Wear Day Friday
It's our first spirit wear day of the school year! Students can wear their logo t-shirts and hoodies on Friday. If not wearing spirit wear this is a regular uniform day.
Bagels After the Bell (TK/K) Friday, 8:15
TK and kindergarten parents are getting together Friday in the kinder yard to meet each other and talk about things happening around school. Members of the FOWHE board will attend and can answer questions about Mrs. Charles' departure and the process of finding a new principal. Other grades will have Bagels After the Bell events on future Fridays.

Back to School Night Childcare, Tuesday, September 10
STAR will offer childcare during Back to School Night as this event is for parents only. Children can be checked in to childcare starting promptly at 5:15 PM in the kindergarten area. The cost is $5 (cash only) per child aged four and older. Students who are in an after school program must first be checked out by a parent and then signed in at the kindergarten yard. Pizza and supervised activities will be provided. To use childcare, RSVP on the Evite by September 9 and enter your child's first name and grade in the Comment box. There's no need to RSVP for Back to School Night if you do not need childcare.
Back to School Night starts at 5:30pm in the auditorium and then parents will be invited to their students' classrooms. There will be two sessions for classroom visits for parents with multiple children at the school. Children must be picked up from childcare by 7:30pm.
Let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week!
Thanks,
Malia
