Legacy At-Home Learning Update
From Dr. Walder 4.13.2020
Welcome to Week 4, Titans!
As we move back into At-Home Learning for the 4th Week, I am reminded of all the blessings our Titans have been given to grow up in the Tea Area Community. Your commitment to education and supporting all our Titans in this unprecedented learning journey will continue to make our community strong for years to come. Thank you for all of your continued support of our teachers and your Titan students!
In the parent/ guardian feedback forms last Friday, many of you mentioned that you would like to know more ideas about motivating students. I am going to feature some of the FUN we have had this school year. As much as we love teaching and learning, we also enjoy laughing and celebrating success with our Titans!
Legacy GOLD Assembly: Costume Relays
One way we get together as a whole school is our GOLD Assemblies. As I shared last week, we go BIG when we hold assemblies as they are only once per month.
We encourage you to also find ways to make sure that during this time of At-Home Learning, I hope you are able to find time to pause and have fun, too.
Here is how it works while at the Legacy building...
As teachers "catch" students following learning expectations at Legacy, students earn GOLD Coins. At the end of the week, Mr. Binde helps us to call down one student from each classroom to be recognized for being GOLD Titans.
At the end of the month, the GOLD Team organizes a friendly, competitive game. Students that earned GOLD Coins during the month get an opportunity to be drawn out to play the game.
Here's how it could work at home...
After a great day of At-Home Learning, this could look like a celebration with a game of Crazy 8s, a walk around the block together, or letting your Titan choose what is for supper that evening. In my house, my Kindergartener chooses to go for a bike ride to get the mail (with a couple of extra blocks of me running next to him) as "celebrating" that he finished his work for the day.
Below is a fun video from our October GOLD Assembly. We had many teachers volunteer to be our "Costume Statues" as students ran back and forth to dress up our statues. Check out three of the final statues in the pictures at the bottom, too!
We miss learning with your Titans, but we sure miss all the fun, too!
