Meet Your Administrators

Mrs. Angie Shauger, Principal

Mrs. Shauger is a native Floridian and was born and raised in Miami, FL. She moved to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida where she completed her BS in Special Education, Masters in Reading K-12, and post graduate certification in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Shauger started working in Pasco County in 2000, where she has been a special education teacher, basic education teacher, Reading Specialist, and Assistant Principal. Her leadership experiences have been at Sand Pine Elementary, Moon Lake Elementary, Connerton Elementary, and Watergrass Elementary.

In her free time, you will find her spending time with her husband and their son, Sammy.

Sammy will be attending SPES in the fall as a Kindergartener.

Mrs. Shauger enjoys supporting the USF Bulls and attending football games. GO BULLS!

She is thrilled to be back at Sand Pine Elementary and looking forward to serving as your Principal.

Mrs. Lisa Grimsley, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Grimsley is a native of Pensacola, FL. She received her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Education Specialist degrees all from Louisiana State University. GEAUX TIGERS! She began her education career in the Baton Rouge area, where she taught for 12 years. Mrs. Grimsley came to Pasco County in 2009 and was thrilled to join the Sand Pine family as assistant principal in May of 2019. Her career has been diverse, as she has served schools in the capacity of a high-school band director, elementary music teacher, behavior specialist, and 2nd/3rd grade teacher.

Mrs. Grimsley has been married for nearly 25 years to her college sweetheart, Kevin. Together, they have two daughters: Riley, a biomedical science major at USF, and Kennedy, a senior at Sunlake High School. She enjoys being a free-lance flutist and going to the beach when she is not at school. Mrs. Grimsley can't wait to get the year started with the Sand Pine community.

Meet the Teacher Day

Meet the Teacher Day is scheduled for Monday, August 8 from 10 am to 3 pm. Staff will have lunch from 12:00-12:30, so no visitors will be allowed to visit campus at that time.

Upon arrival, please proceed to the cafeteria. Car tags, bus information, school meal information, School Advisory Council voting, and the PTA will be set up there. School fees ($29) will also be collected there, and teacher assignments will be provided. After receiving the teacher assignment, you will visit the classroom. Please be prepared to let your child's teacher know how they will be getting home, both permanently and on the first day of school if it is different. Any school supply packs that were ordered have been delivered to the pods for you already.

Any students new to Sand Pine this year must be fully enrolled in order to participate in Meet the Teacher. Please ensure that any outstanding registration documentation has been submitted by Friday, August 5 at noon.

Parent Portal

The myStudent Parent Portal is an online platform where you will view your child's grades, attendance, and can make payment for things like lunches, field trips, and other school-related activities.

This year, there are a series of required parental acknowledgements and consents about various specific educational opportunities and related activities based on the new legislation passed by the state of Florida. You will need to proceed through these acknowledgements and consents in order to access the portal for this school year. There is a link to log into the portal on the district website. If you need any assistance, please call the office at (813) 794-1900.

Here is a video to help you create a parent portal account:

School Hours and Procedures

School hours are 9:10 am - 3:20 pm. Arrival starts at 8:50 am, and dismissal will begin at 3:20 pm. Please be patient the first few weeks of school since dismissal may take a bit longer until we develop a rhythm and routine.

Due to safety and security, parents may not walk their child to class. We will have ample staff posted around campus to ensure that your child gets to their classroom safely. The first week of school, kindergarten teachers will meet students at the bus and car loop. Thank you for your understanding.

The car line and walkers/bikers are welcomed on campus each day at 8:50 am. There is not adult supervision before this time, so please ensure your child is not here too early. Students may purchase breakfast in the cafeteria if they wish, or head directly to the classroom if they have already had breakfast. The tardy bell rings at 9:10 am. If you arrive after 9:10 am, please park in the 5-minute parking spaces and escort your child into the office to be signed in properly. Thank you for helping us begin learning as soon as possible in the morning!

School is dismissed at 3:20 pm daily, except for Early Release Days. If you need to check your child out early or change their mode of transportation, the latest you may do so is 2:45 pm. This allows us ample time to let both the teacher and child know of the change. You may change transportation by calling the office at (813) 794-1900 or by using our online form on the school website. Please do not send last minute notification to the teacher via Class Dojo, as all changes in dismissal must come through the front office.

On Early Release Day, dismissal begins at 1:20 pm. Please have change of transportation reported by 11:45 am. The latest time you may sign out your child on these days is 12:30 pm.

Rainy Day Dismissal:

Here at Sand Pine, we utilize the School Messenger and Class Dojo to notify parents if we have Rainy Day Dismissal. We will also post a flag on the fence at the entrance of the school if we will be having rainy day dismissal. Rainy day will be called if it is raining hard or if there is lightning in the area. If it is just sprinkling, rainy day dismissal may not be called. Please monitor the messaging systems to be sure. Our first priority is student safety! We will make every effort to send a notification by 2:45 pm if we will have rainy day dismissal.

Car line safety:

Our goal is for the car line to move swiftly and safely! Please refrain from being on your phone while dropping off or picking up your child on campus. Also, when dropping off your child, please make sure that they are ready to exit the vehicle when you arrive at the drop off location. Parents must stay in their vehicles in the car line. Staff members on duty can assist students with putting on their backpack after they have exited the vehicle.

Food and Nutrition

We will be welcoming our families back this year to have lunch with their child. This will begin on September 12 after students have learned the expectations in the cafeteria. Family lunches will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only, excluding Early Release Days. Here are the lunch procedures:

1. Parents must show ID and be Raptored in prior to joining their child for lunch. They must wear badge the entire time they are on campus. Only family members listed on the emergency card of the child may visit for lunch.

2. Parents may not sit at the table with the class. There are some tables inside the cafeteria, outdoor lunch tables, and in the Butterfly Garden where you can enjoy lunch.

3. Parents may only eat with their own child (no classmates).

4. Once lunch is over, parent should go back to office to check out. They may not join their child at recess or walk them back to the classroom.

We look forward to seeing our families enjoying lunch together on campus!
