PRV Academy Notes

Principal's Update
As we move into the weekend, I can say that a lot has been accomplished this week. Today, we are finishing up our 4th materials pickup day (4th grade). We have one more to go on Wednesday when the 3rd grade students are able to collect their materials.
Data was analyzed from the parent survey which allowed all of you to select the mode of instruction that is best for your family. I am pleased to say that we will still have over 460 students in PRV Academy. While some students will be moving back into their home schools, we are gaining some students who chose to join us in our virtual world.
Second and fifth graders worked on their CogATs and makeups will continue next week. Teachers are beginning to schedule parent/teacher conferences and voting has been underway for our favorite student workstations (see results below). Two new students have joined us for our morning announcements so be sure to check those out.
Meet the Teacher videos will be available today at noon! Please click here to go to our site. You can access these by selecting your grade span on the left side.
We are fully in the swing of things and starting to see engagement take off.
I look forward to seeing what next week has in store for all of us.
Happy Friday!

Congratulations
Giving back during recess...
A group of students decided to collect items for the Light of Life shelter. The students have been collecting multiple items and putting together bags to be donated to the shelter. As of Tuesday, they had enough materials to donate 217 bags!
I had to see it for myself so I took a trip over to their neighborhood, donated some items, and even got to help pack a few bags. I was very impressed!
If you are interested in donating any materials, please contact Kaiti Corbett-Trapl through direct message on Facebook. A list of items can be found here.
If your child is doing anything like this, I would love to hear all about it!

If you are not interested in getting a school picture, but would like your child to be in the yearbook, you will be able to submit a headshot to the PTO. We will have more details regarding this process later in the year.
Each school's Friday Flash will have more information pertaining to the logistics of entering each building.
Halloween Festivities
On Thursday, October 29 - students are encouraged to wear their costumes to school. No masks are allowed as they can be distracting to the students. Also, please make sure the costumes are school appropriate and do not include any weapons. Side note: who would have thought in the time of Covid I would be telling you that no masks are allowed?
We are taking our festivities and making them virtual.
All K-3 buildings, plus PRV Academy K-3 students, are going to be hosting a virtual parade. This will allow all students to participate (virtual and hybrid). Your homeroom parents will be reaching out to you with details, but get your cameras ready. If you are interested in participating, please email a picture of your child in his/her costume or a fall setting to your homeroom parent by October 23.
Halloween parties will also be virtual and the teachers/homeroom parents will be working to make sure these are fun for all students.
Materials Pick-Up Days
It is that time again... We want to refresh the books/materials that the students have at home. All materials should be picked up according to the following schedule. Please note: All pickups will occur at Pupil Services which is attached to Richland Elementary School (looking at the font of Richland, Pupil Services is located on the far right - it has it's own parking lot and door). The address is 3811 Bakerstown Road. If you are unable to make it during your pickup time, please email me to make alternate arrangements. We can't wait to see you!

K-3 Specials Update
6th-grade Meet-Up
Weather permitting, Wednesdays anytime between 11:45-12:45, Pine Park, the Pearce Mill Road playground, come for as little or as long as you want. Bring your lunch and run around outside with kids doing all virtual in 6th grade. Parents must stay with their students.
If any other grade level is interested in starting something like this, please let me know and I would be happy to post specifics in our weekly newsletter.
We STILL need your jokes and thanks!
We are still in need of Thankful Videos. This is a great time to record your child stating who they are thankful for (maybe a peer or teacher) or parents can do the same. The video should be no longer than 30 seconds. Feel free to email these to me at pgiran@pinerichland.org.
