Predicted that pests would become resistant to pesticides in her book Silent Spring. It was published after the extensive use of chemical pesticides in the 1950s. Crops are dying in increasing amounts, even though pesticides are being used.


The Effects of Pesticide on the Environment

98% of pesticides and 95% of herbicides end up affecting species other than what they were intended for. If used incorrectly, it can kill the natural enemies of the pests, increasing the chance of survival for the pest.
