Week of December 12th
Helping a Family In Need: 'Tis the Season of Giving!
- All donations for our adopted family need to be in by this Thursday 12/15! Thank you to those who have already donated, but we still need more items to fill the basket. Food, gift cards, toys, or clothing. If you have any questions please let me know!
Important Information/Announcements
- Tuesday 12/13: Violin Performance at 10am in the PAC, parents welcome.
- Friday 12/16: Polar Express Winter Party 8:15am. Contact our room mom Sian Powell or Jessica Zeait with any additional questions regarding the party. Click here for the link to fulfill donation requests and sign up to volunteer!
- Friday 12/16: School Spirit Day- Sports Dress Up and minimum day 12:25pm release (no lunch served)
- Please continue to send in items for our adopted SME family for this holiday season. We want to make sure this family feels loved by room E222! All items need to be in by December 15th. Click here for the flyer!! Anything you can send in is greatly appreciated!
- Holiday Book Exchange: Send in a new or gently used book by this Tuesday 12/13
- Continue to send in any Box Tops that you have at home.

What's Happening in the Classroom??
- Innovation Block #2 : Starts this week! Half of the students will be in the innovation lab working with robotics and half of the students will be in the makerspace exploring biomimicry. They will analyze nature inspired inventions. Students will go through the design thinking process to use biomimicry to solve a problem at Double Peak.
- Hour of Code: This week, students participated in the Hour of Code. Every student in our class coded for at least one hour! Here is the link to the Santa Tracker coding website students can use for extra practice coding. Enjoy!
- Writing: Students are going through the writing process for narrative and imaginative narrative. Using Jack and the Beanstalk, students worked with a partner and rewrote the story from the perspective of either Jack or the Giant.
- Reading Comprehension: Students are finding key details in order to figure out the main idea or lesson of a story. Small groups are reading books at their reading level. This upcoming week students will participate in reader's theatre.
- Math: Students learned about the distributive property and how to break down larger numbers into two smaller numbers in order to make multiplication easier!! Students continued to review and practice multiplication and division strategies. Finally, students are working on multi step word problems within the four operations.
- Language Conventions: Students are practicing adding descriptive words, details, and dialogue to their writing.
