Congratulations to our Fifth Graders!

Our Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony was held June 18th in our school's theater. The theme was "A Journey has ended. Another one Begins." which was represented in the lyrics of the song composed and sung by the fifth graders.

We wish all of our fifth graders good luck on their journey to middle school and in all of their adventures that lie ahead. Always remember...you are a James Monroe Owl, YOU CAN FLY!

Career Day Provided Students a Glimpse into Future Career Paths!

This year, James Monroe School hosted a career day in which members of the community are invited to educate our students about their professions and the paths they pursued in order to achieve their goals. This year it was held on Friday, June 7th, and it was a huge success! Students in grades 2 - 5 completed interest surveys and were able to select 2 sessions of their choice. Nurses, police officers, engineers, veterinarian, make-up artist and many more professionals from a variety of fields talked to our students about their jobs, goal setting and the importance of working hard to achieve their dreams. The day gives students the opportunity to explore possible career paths and provide insight into the specific requirements, daily responsibilities, and extraordinary experiences associated with each career. Thank you to all who presented!

Cub Scouts Make a Difference

Thank you to Cub Scout Pack 53 who planted plants and shrubs in our garden that are native to New Jersey and will attract butterflies. Many James Monroe students are members of this pack and took pride in beautifying our grounds. Cub Scout leaders, Mr. DiFrenza and Mr. Somes helped the boys learn about the plants and labeled each one with the plant variety so the school could learn more about what is growing in our garden. We look forward to seeing the butterflies!

Donuts with Dudes

Donuts with my Dude was a special morning celebration with important male role models in our lives sponsored by our PTO. Donuts, juice and coffee were served as the children and their guest celebrated their special relationship. A photo booth was set up to capture the moment and a pipe cleaner bow tie craft were made by the pairs. Students were escorted to their classrooms and guests were invited to spend time together to start their day. Thank you to all the "dudes" who joined us; we enjoyed coming together to celebrate these special relationships.
