What is Visual Communication in animals?
When an animal exhibits a behavior that can be seen by other animals, it is called a display. Displays can be used to attract a mate or to warn off a predator. When a sage grouse opens its tail feathers and struts around trying to attract the attention of a female, that is a display. When a cat arches its and raises its fur, that is also a display.

Visual Color Communication
Different types of organisms can use the color of certain parts of their bodies to communicate with others. For example, a frog that has bright yellow and green dots of their backs communicated to any predators that it is poisonous.
Fear Factor
Some organism use the method of scaring or frightening away predators. This organism is defending itself by crouching and showing that is is ready to pounce, as well as showing its teeth to make the enemy feel more threatened.
Size Difference
Many organisms use their body size or mass to fend of predators. One prime example of this would be the cat. When feeling threatened cats arch their backs to make them seem taller, and raise their hair on end to make them seem thicker. This way their opponent feels more threatened about going up against a larger opponent.
