Big picture

From the Principal's Desk

Dear DiPietro Families,

Soon, if not already, the excitement of being home and using a device to learn will begin to wear off. Please take a look at the image I have linked above. Sometimes our children mean what they say, and sometimes they need help understanding what the actual feeling is. If you are unsure, it often helps to ask a question tied to an observation you make. For example: You could respond to "I'm bored/sick of this activity" with ... "I know, sometimes we get tired of doing this. I did notice that you seemed a little sad after you chatted with your teacher? Were you?" This is an approach we use in school regularly...we validate what your child said, and then use a question, or a thought of our own, to see if there is another underlying problem. If you want to discuss this further, or need more ideas, please feel free to reach out to any of the staff listed below as this is their area of expertise.

This week your classroom teachers will be sharing out the links for specials. Should you have any questions/struggles with the lesson or link please contact the specialist directly via email and they will get back to you. Please know that, while we have assigned days, in keeping with the essence of flexibility, your family should engage in the lessons at your pace. It is not easy for the specialists to "teach" a lesson in a shortened time without interaction, so any feedback is welcome.

I have a respectful request. Should you have any questions/struggles/concerns please reach out to your teacher directly through either Seesaw/Google Classroom/ or Email. While one may turn to social media to ask a simple question, it can become negative. I am sure we can all agree that if there is one lesson we are learning during this pandemic it is that we must work together as a team and support each other. This is how you can support your DiPietro team. I promise you, every lesson, interaction, and decision is made with positive intention and the children's best interests in mind.

Have a wonderful weekend.

-Mrs. Friedman
