West Weekly Update
Volume 12, Issue 8, 10/10/21
From the desk of Mr. Jolliffe
Staff – Sometimes a little inconvenience can lead to a much needed break. I hope you enjoyed your three days off and are ready to finish this quarter strong. Custodial will clear the water fountains but the ice machines cannot be used for consumption until further notice. We will have a faculty meeting on Tuesday so please review the time and location below. Grades must be posted by Thursday so that you can enjoy Friday off.
We have an amazing resource that is now live. We will discuss this more at the faculty meeting but Revolution Prep Homework Help is a new resource for our students. Students can access this resource through the portal and it is available during the school day, after school (2pm-10pm) and on weekends (9am-6pm). This tool can be used in class, during AT, for AVID support, for athletic support, tutoring, Learning Center support and HOMEWORK. The number of classes offered is 67.
The MIFI hotspots have arrived and we are excited to get these out to our kids. BUT…before that can happen the district is working on some logistics and we will inventory our items. It is our intent to get these out as soon as possible but it may be next week until that happens.
We have another busy week coming up. Check the calendar below:
- · Tuesday, October 12th – Faculty Meeting – 7:00AM or 3:30PM - Auditorium
- Wednesday, October 13th - Faculty Meeting - 7:15AM - Library (Testing regulations)
- · Wednesday, October 13th - 9th-11th grade Pre-ACT and Pre-SAT testing – Wednesday schedule is regular start at 8:00AM – Make sure you tell your kids every hour.
- · Thursday, October 14th – Grades and IEP Progress Reports Due to be off on Friday.
- · Friday, October 15th – Staff work day – Please follow the expectations for each employee group.
- · Monday, October 18th – Building In-service – Start in Auditorium at 8:00AM
Professional Accountability - We have ongoing duties beyond teaching that are required to be completed in a timely fashion. Please make sure you are completing the following tasks:
- · Read your email – This is still the preferred method of sharing building expectations.
- · We are working on streamlining communication so there will be one place to look vs. many
- · Have you entered your grades in a timely manner? We have four days until the end of the quarter and your students deserve to know where they stand. Two or three grade entries does not qualify for adequate feedback.
- · Be prepared for building testing day on Wednesday, October 13th. Know your responsibility.
- · Wednesday, October 13th – 8:00AM Start – NO LATE START – Share, Share, Share with students
- · Arrive to work by 7:50AM and leave after 3:20PM
- · Perform your duty as expected.
Teacher evaluations coming soon. Watch your email to set-up your formal observation and to know when you will turn in your lesson plan. Roughly 50 certified staff are being evaluated. You have been informed if you are being evaluated.

We had 10 cadets volunteer and participate in the remember the blue marathon to honor the fallen. Cadets held flags with the names of the fallen during the opening ceremony and then held the flags on the route as the runners passed. Overall good event and the cadets had a great time while learning and serving the community
