The Five Branches Of Chemistry

by Madison Callis

Organic Chemistry

The study of carbon and its compounds: the study of the chemistry of life. An example of organic chemistry would be soaps and detergents which is made by the saponification reaction which is when a hydroxide reacts with an organic molecule.

Inorganic Chemistry

the study of compounds not covered by organic chemistry; the study of inorganic compounds or compounds which do not contain a C-H bond. many inorganic compounds are those which contain metals. An example of an inorganic compound would be iron because its not carbon

Physical Chemistry

the branch of chemistry that applies physics to the study of chemistry. commonly this includes the application o thermodynamics and quantum mechanics to chemistry. and example of physical chemistry would be when building an airplane, to make it faster they would use titanium instead of steel

the study of chemical processes that occour inside living organisms. an exaple of biochemistry would be a biochemist might study certin kinds of hair to find out the best hair products for it.

analytical chemistry

the study of the chemistry of matter and the development of tools used to measure properties of matter. an example of analytical chemistry would be using a qualitative chemical test.
