Mrs. Harris' Class News
August 31 - September 11
What We've Been Up To
Math - students have been working in Mrs. Trayer's class on fact families and inverse relationships. They are beginning their unit on rounding and place value.
Reading - we will continue to focus on fiction in our reading blocks, including identifying question-answer relationships, summarizing, and correctly using homophones.
Writing - In writing, students are currently working on sentence structure and correctly using various types of sentences.
Science - In Mrs. Kennedy's class, students have finished learning about Scientific Investigations and are moving to their Matter unit. The matter test will be this Friday, September 4! After that, third graders at M-NES will move into the first history units which involve map skills!
We have also finished up with our PALS testing, which determines what reading level your child is currently reading. You should expect to get information about your child's performance within the next week.
I have really LOVED getting to know your children so far this year! I am building relationships with each one of them and am constantly amazed at their hard work, their kindness, and their desire to do well.
Also be sure to check, empty, and sign your child's Fox Folder when it comes home every Tuesday and Thursday, and return them to school the following day.
