OFHS Library Tech Talk
What's Tech got to do with my Freshman/Transfer Students?
Welcome to OFHS, Freshmen and Transfer Parents!
Thank you so much for taking the time to email or stop by our Parent iPad Tech Talk. We wanted to send you a brief follow up several weeks into the school year that included some tips and tricks that we mentioned in the Tech Talk so that you could know a little more about the tech your student is using at OFHS. Also, we wanted to send you our contact information in case you or your student needed to get ahold of us for technical problems, or reading and research questions. You can contact us at the following emails: Amanda O'Rourke (aorourke@bhsd228.com), and Cheryl Harris-Sumida (charris@bhsd228.com). Our library aide is Karyn Prim (kprim@bhsd228.com) and our secretary is Debbie Doyle (ddoyle@bhsd228.com). We can be reached in the OFHS library at 708.342.8377 and 708.342.8378.
How Does a Student Become a Good Remote Learner? Here are Some Suggestions....
Google Meet Etiquette: How Should Your Child Conduct Him/Herself in a Remote Learning Class?
2. Students should mute themselves when they join the Google Meet after checking in with the teacher with a short sentence sort of like: "Hi Mrs. H, I'm here today!"
3. If students want to talk, they should raise their hands and wait for the teacher to call on them, then unmute themselves and comment appropriately.
4. Students should stay engaged by participating nonverbally in the discussion (like nodding), and by taking notes in each class.
5. Students should always behave as if their microphones are on, so they should watch their language carefully!
