A Note From Mrs. Mathe
The countdown has begun... 5 more days until our first day of the 2022-2023 school year!
Over the last couple weeks, Powell staff has been busy preparing for another amazing year! There has been a wonderful buzz around campus as staff decorated their classrooms, planned with their teams, and brainstormed amazing activities for your child(ren). There is something special about the start of the school year. The anticipation of what is to come over the next 175 school days together is exhilarating.
We hope you are able to join us Monday for Meet the Teacher. We are thankful that our neighbor, Celebration Church, has allowed us to use their parking lot during this event. Please do not park in the spots marked for their Pastoral Staff.
At meet the teacher you will be able to:
- Meet your child's teacher
- Drop off schools supplies (or pick up pre-ordered supplies)
- Drop off student medication
- Register for the bus
- Add money to your student's cafeteria account
- Meet the PTO
- Talk with community services
- Treat yourself to KONA ice!
On the first day of school we will open the doors at 7:15 am. We will have extra staff on hand to welcome students from 7:15-8:00 am. Exterior grade level hallway doors will be open to avoid congestion at the front doors of the school.
I sincerely hope you take time over the last days of summer to make memories with your child(ren). See you in a few days!

How Will Your Child Go Home?
Parents may select from four modes of transportation for their child. At Meet the Teacher, you will be asked to designate how your child will get home from school daily.
Bus:
A student is eligible for service if their home is 1 mile or further from the school. You will need your child's student ID # to register for bus service. Please use the link below to find your child's bus number, pick-up/drop-off locations and times.
Bus Registration and Find Your Bus Route
Car Rider:
All students will receive 1 car rider sign for pick up at our Meet the Teacher event. The car rider line is at the front of the school. You will receive additional information on the arrival/dismissal process and procedures closer to the start of school. If your family needs more than 1 sign, you may request additional car rider signs by clicking here.
Daycare:
Confirm that your daycare picks up at Powell Elementary.
Walker/Biker:
Walker/Biker dismissal is intended for use by families that live within 1 mile of the school and do not receive bus service. These students will dismiss at the back (Capstone) and front (Cochran's Green) of the school. Students in kindergarten and 1st grade will not be released to walk/bike without an adult. *this is a change for 1st grade students*
On severe weather dismissal days, student will not be allowed to walk or bike home. If you select biker/walker as your primary mode, then you will also be asked to select a second choice for severe weather dismissal (bus if eligible or car rider).
Dismissal Early First 3 Days
School Supply Information
If your family ordered the pre-packaged school supplies at the end of the year last year, they will be distributed to your child's teacher for Meet the Teacher.
If you purchased your own school supplies, please bring them with you on the night of Meet the Teacher. This allows our staff to organize the supplies before the first day of school.

Library News
Thanks to everyone who came to our summer library days! It was wonderful to see current, former, future, and new Powell Panthers! If you have books to return, there are 3 easy ways to get them back us.
*Return them to the library carts in the hallways at Meet the Teacher.
*Return them the first week of school.
Please complete this short survey regarding library hours. We appreciate your opinion and will use the results to make adjustments to this event for next summer.
