OLVCS Updates
October 21st, 2022
Dear OLV Parents and Friends,
Good afternoon! As you’ve likely already heard we were without internet today, but while we were thrown way way back to 1990s, business continued as usual, though it was a bit quieter. It will be a quiet weekend this weekend for the school, but we are gearing up for a busy one next week. Highlights can be found below.
There are also some service opportunities coming up soon, including many volunteer slots for the Bazaar. Details and Sign Up Genius link are below. Please consider helping out or signing up your middle schooler to help as the parish will share most of the proceeds with our school.
Also, please contact us if you did not receive the emergency phone call test that was sent at the end of last week, and we will make sure that you receive future messages.
A nice conclusion to our week was our 2nd grade participation in Mass. The children did a wonderful job in the various ministries of our liturgy. I think the first reading spoke to our four values that we aspire to at OLV, so I will leave you with that.
May God bless all and have a great weekend!
Best regards,
Jim Hoy
Brothers and sisters:
I, a prisoner for the Lord, (Integrity)
urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received,
with all humility and gentleness, with patience,
bearing with one another through love, (Love)
striving to preserve the unity of the spirit
through the bond of peace; one Body and one Spirit, (Dignity)
as you were also called to the one hope of your call;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism; (Faith)
one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all.

She competed against top girl golfers from the other 11 PIAA Districts and shot +2 on the first day and +10 on the second day to end with a final score of 158 (+14) and earn the 6thplace medal. Koshko is the second Saint Joseph’s golfer to win the District championship and the first SJCA girl golfer to place at the State tournament.
Saint Joseph’s senior, Timothy Peters, also an OLVCS alumni, competed on the boys side for the WolfPack at the PIAA State Golf Championships. Timothy had a tough first round on Monday and ended up shooting 83 to sit in 49th place. But the next day, he showed why he is the WolfPack team captain by keeping his composure and trusting his skills to fight back and shoot 74. As a result, he ended up moving up over 25 places to finish the competition in 22nd with a final score of 157 (+13).

Saint Joseph’s Chaplain Extols “Get Involved!”
In the recent Fall issue of Proclaim! Magazine Saint Joseph’s chaplain, Fr. Mike Pleva, tells us it is not enough to go to Mass, rather we need to put our faith into practice. “Although Church attendance is crucial for one’s spiritual life, what we do as a Church must transition into the world.” He suggests joining a parish group, signing up to be a Eucharistic minister, and helping in the charity work of the parish as simple ways to “invigorate our faith.” Read Fr. Pleva’s complete article on page 15 athttps://catholicmagazines.org/magazine-archive/proclaim/altj1022
