Holland Elementary School Message
December 20, 2019
Hello HES Families,
Weeks like this remind me of my good fortune to be part of such a wonderful school community. The Geography Bee participants were given enthusiastic support from their classmates, the Student Council collected 194 items for the Toys for Tots program and $1,190 for NAMI, we collected loads of hats and gloves on our Mitten Tree, and the staff began exploring how to use our Ozobots that were recently purchased from our generous PTO. And there was a magic in the air with the children's excitement for the holiday season. So amazing!
As we approach our winter break, I'd like to thank families and the PTO for their support of our programs and activities. Without it, none of the wonderful activities above could happen. The staff and I are quite fortunate, and we thank you for sharing your amazing children with us each day. As a father, I can tell you that time flies by so quickly. Enjoy every moment with your children during the break.

Student Council Holiday Raffle Fundraiser
A Message from Student Council: Thanks to the kindness of the Holland Hawks, together we raised a ridiculously generous amount of $1,190 for the NAMI fundraiser! That is over $900 more than our original goal and demonstrates 1,190 reasons why Holland Hawks are the best!
NAMI is an organization that is part of Council Rock’s charitable initiative for the 2019-20 school year. NAMI offers support and education on mental health issues for individuals and families locally and around the country.
An Important Message From Central Registration
It is important for parents to update their children's demographic information. Updating demographic information is mandatory for each student you have enrolled in the district and must be completed annually. Council Rock must have this information to remain compliant with state and federal guidelines. More important is that we need to have accurate student information when dealing with our students.
To update your student’s demographic information:
- Log in to your HAC account,
- Click the Registration icon at the top of the page,
- Navigate to the Update Registration tab,
- Click NEW or start a new form,
- Make any updates necessary for: (a) Student information (b) Student Contact information (c) Your contact information and/or address (d) Medical, Childcare & Other Information (including ability for school nurse to administer Tylenol)
Please contact the Central Registration Department at Registration@CRSD.org with all questions.
Camp Invention
The Summer 2020 Camp Invention sign-up just opened - secure a spot today! Camp Invention is for children entering grades K-6th.
The location will be at Maureen M. Welch Elementary School (750 New Road, Churchville, PA 18966) from July 6 - 10, 202. The times of the camp will be 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM and the cost is $270 (before discount).
HES Science Fair
Holland’s 9th Annual Science Fair will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 6:00-7:30 pm. All students in K-6 are encouraged to participate. Researching scientific ideas and using the scientific method are powerful learning experiences!
Details about the Science Fair including the permission slip and resources can be found on the school website by clicking HERE.
Children can start thinking about what their entry could be! It could be an experiment, a demonstration, a scientific collection, or information on a scientific topic. Students can work individually or in a small group.
Tri-folds and science fair journals can be picked up in the office.
From the Nurse's Office
If your child has been ill, please allow adequate recovery time so that your child does not re-introduce illness at school by returning too early. Please also consider the fact that some children are very fatigued during illness recovery and do need a little extra time at home. Children who have had diarrhea or have been vomiting should remain home for 24 hours symptom-free before returning to school.
We ask that children be free of fever for 24 hours, with NO Tylenol or Motrin during the 24 hours, before returning to school. If unsure, please call the health office to discuss your child’s care.
We wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.
Thank you. Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. Gaughan
CRSD Girl Up Book Club
Girl Up is a club that promotes women empowerment and donates money to the United Nations Foundation. The club has created book lists for each level of education (K-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9-12), and the theme for the upcoming meeting is Women in STEM.
The club will meet in the library on the evening of January 8, 2020 at the Northampton Library from 6:30-8:00. There will be discussion and interactive games, so it’s a great opportunity for high school, middle school, and elementary school kids to have fun and learn from each other!
All people of all ages are welcome to attend and learn about how women have contributed to the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
