Kindergarten News ACES
Week Of September 26th
Highlights From Last Week....
A peek at our learning this week...
In Reader's Workshop, we will learn how to pick a book that interests us and how the classroom library is organized. We will continue to practice turning and talking.
In Math, we will work on finding hidden partners in numbers. For instance, in the number five, two hidden partners might be 2 and 3 or 1 and 4. The children will love playing math detectives to find out the hidden partners in numbers.
In Phonics, we will be practicing letter sounds and learning the sight word "like", please practice these words at home.

Reminder:
Students should bring their green folders every day. It would be helpful that you check them each night and take out what should stay home.
Reading logs are coming back. Would like to see more. If you need help with books , please write me a note and I will be sure to get some books that you can borrow.
We are working on purposeful play. This coming week we will be introduced to the big blocks and paints. Will have the students focus on building and creating their neighborhoods.
Volunteers are always needed. Please let me know if you can help! Our PTO is looking for people to help during the book fair this week.

Notes from Mrs. Melanson
Book orders were placed this weekend. Books usually ship quickly, so I hope to send them home by the end of the week. Be on the lookout for a new book order being sent home this week.
Labeling:
Looking at the upcoming forecast. I see that we will have some chilly mornings, but warmer afternoons. Please make sure that you label your child's jacket/sweatshirts on the tag. Some might wear them out to recess but get warm and take them off. If they get left outside, they will find their way back to your child if there is a name inside.
Reading Logs:
I see many reading logs are getting filled out and sent in. That's awesome! I sent a new copy home for all for when you need a new one. When your child brings their completed log in, they earn a trip to my prize box! Keep up the great reading with your children!!
Donations: As cold and flu season approaches, we want to stay stocked up on clorox wipes. Any donations are greatly appreciated. And to those that have already donated - thank you so very much!!

Notes from Mrs. Potter/Mrs. Walsh
As the weather is changing please be sure to dress your child in layers, it may be chilly in the morning but warmer by lunch and they tend to want to change into cooler clothing after recess. Also, please be sure to label clothing with your childs name.
Reading Logs:
Be sure to read with your child every night and fill in their logs. I am happy to have had a few reading logs filled up and returned. Those who return a full log will get prizes for all their hard work, and their name will go on our "super reader" wall.
Donations:
Donations are always appreciated, tissues and Clorox wipes are always needed during this time of year. Thank you to those who have already donated.
Email:
Please feel free to email me at rwalsh@arrsd.org with any questions or concerns you may have.
Notes from Mrs. Chadwick/ Miss Bickford
If there is ever a question or concern that you have for me that requires immediate attention feel free to contact me via email at sbickford@arrsd.org. I am usually pretty punctual with my replies.
Book orders & payments that were received by Friday were ordered over the weekend and should be to you soon. Your purchases allowed us to add a new book to our classroom library for free!
Other Comments --
It is important that your child's red folder makes it to school every day, as it is essential for communication purposes between the parents and the teacher. It is also our method of sending home all of their hard work that they're super proud of and surely want you to see!
The children are really beginning to enjoy learning and are excited to share their new knowledge with one another. There are always multiple raised hands eagerly awaiting the opportunity to.answer my questions during all our learning time. I can't wait to see all their progress this week!
