A note from the Principal

Dear Parents & Caregivers

I love sports carnivals! I love the thrill of competition, the rivalry, the mateship, and the growth that comes from challenging yourself. Sports carnivals are occasions where we get to see our students push themselves a little harder and grow in confidence along the way. Most importantly though, they are days when we see the values that we teach in school and at home come to life. For us at St Mary’s, the eight Mercy values underpin everything that we do, and this is no more evident than on sports carnival days. On these days we see compassion, forgiveness, courage, respect, service, justice, excellence and determination shine through in the way our students not only perform but in the way they support each other and offer to help.

Yesterday was day one of our Athletics Carnival and the students did not disappoint. I was so proud of their efforts and attitudes, and I am looking forward to day two tomorrow. Thank you to Mrs Pettersen for organising the carnival and to all the staff and parents who volunteered to help. These days would not happen without you!

First Eucharist

Congratulations to our Year 4 students who received their First Holy Communion on Sunday. Our students are a symbol of joy and hope for the world and we are positive that with support of families, parish and the school they will go on to become confident and capable members of society who will lead with compassion and act with love in a spirit of service. Thank you to Mrs Thomson for her efforts in preparing them for this special occasion.

Footy Colours Day

St Mary's will be hosting a Footy Colours Day and supporting Kids with Cancer on Friday 24th September. The Shire are also offering some Apple Fun Park early bird tickets for the best dressed footy fans in each class. We will also host our third teachers v students grudge match at lunch. Please bring a gold coin donation on this day.

BCC Orientation Day

Bunbury Catholic College have announced that Tuesday 23rd November 2021 we be the Year 7 2022 Orientation Day. For more information, please visit BCC’s website.

In the past the School Yearbook has gone out at the end of the year and as such did not include information on Camp, Graduation, and the end of year celebrations. This year it will be different. Printing will occur in January meaning the Yearbook will include everything from 2021. This will then be sent home to parents early 2022. For those families who have left our school, they will be posted.

Painting and Maintenance

St Mary’s, with the support of CEWA, have just signed a contract to have the school repaired, painted and maintained for the next 7 years. Repairs will commence next term with painting planned to be completed for the start of 2022 school year.

Staffing announcements

There will be a number of staffing changes for the remainder of 2021 and 2022. Information regarding this will be sent home to parents shortly via a separate email letter.

2022 Enrolments

St Mary’s 2022 Kindergarten program is filling up fast and we are nearly at capacity. If you are interested in enrolling in Kindy next year, please contact the office a.s.a.p. We have places available in all other year groups too.

School Opens at 8:30am

We have a large group of students arriving at school before 8:30am at the moment. Unless organised with the class teacher or the office, students are not to arrive at school before 8:30am as there is no one on duty to assume responsibility for them. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Carpark Concerns

There is a new sign at the rear entry of the school reminding parents to slow down to 10km per hour. Please make sure you are driving safely to and from school.

Wishing you all the best for a safe and enjoyable school holiday period.
